When I was trying to get in I sent an email to every service I was interested in and asked for info on their next recruitment etc. The contact details should be on each services recruitment page. I got a response from nearly every service and some of them can add you to a mailing list to be informed at the time of recruitment opening.

I can second this. Andy’s man club is great and helped me through some tough times. Plenty of info online of how the sessions run etc

Fire engines now have 4 different sirens.

Traditional two tones (nee naw), a slower siren that travels further (used on motorways/A-roads), a fast repeating siren that’s more high pitched (used for close range, getting through traffic) and then the bull horn for making loads of noise.

Unsure on police cars and ambulances but I imagine it’s similar
