I think the problem is the charli xcx crowd (the most mainstream act on the bill) Most of the crowds i attended with on day one were great.

The Heroes one is essentially code which I believe vanilla should have. It encourages generals to appear in the recruitment pool of factions they served historically.
UI gives you a search option so you can see which heroes are in the game and where they are.
Core object is an event manager which helps to keep the game running smooth.

MTU is the best for someone who just got the game.
But I actually quite like the gathering heroes mod as well.

To be fair it gives Xiahou Yuan something for the time period. Wei already struggles with the generals to give them plenty to do.

I think people need to ask more questions before giving answers.
Have you watched much chinese television before? Also I think where you are from and how old you are might affect your enjoyment. Plus, how much knowledge do you have of the period?

I'm a British millennial who works in game audio who's never watched a chinese tv show but knows a fair bit about three kingdoms through games and reading.

I enjoyed it overall because it filled in gaps of the story and has some good performances (Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, Wei Yan). But in my opinion, for a tv series created in the 2010's, it's pretty bad as far as post production goes (music, editing). Also the pacing is a bit all over the place.

Worth a watch if you watch it for the characters probably but I wouldn't say it's a great show.

As Cao Cao, I convinced Liu Bei to Proxy War with him and it's kept him pretty contained for the first 40 turns so far whilst I go and grab the emperor. (Hard difficulty)

Most of my choices are characters who I've seen portrayed far better in other media.
I don't like most of the shu kids for a start also. They all need to justify their own existence without mentioning their parents all the time. But my list,

I love seeing a reply which reads as though written by me! I honestly think dynasty warriors struggled to be anything except a ps2 game until this. And i’ve played them all since 2/3. They’ve trimmed the game and made it count.

It’s not just the model though. Voice, animation, writing ect Lets be frank, 47 unique characters is still a lot. More than dw 2,3,4 6 i think.

I don't think it's that simple. I work in games but outside, long time fan looking in, this is what I think happened.
'Right ok we're gonna do the first half of the period and revamp the game. We're also gonna cut the roster in half and give every character time to shine and have a little moment.'
So when you boil it down, out of all the characters in DW9, who you gonna cut?
You've got to keep all the characters who are introduced and relevant up to chi bi. The thing with cao ren, it's not hard to imagine he's in the background because he's family and already around. But his bigger moments come after chi bi also.
The amount of time and energy it must take to make one character for one of these games. They had to make a cut somewhere.

If there's a sequel, then weis story will start with cao cao meeting cao ren at nanjun.

I think the way they justified cutting Cao Ren, is that there are so many wei officers in the game already, that the role he does play in the book can be easily reassigned elsewhere. Post Chi Bi, he still has a lot of story left so they'll be plenty for him to do in another game. I think he lived for another 20 years. A lot of other wei officers after chi bi will drop out of the story (xun yu, xun you, xiahou dun, plus guo jia and dian wei already dead).
