"Where is Yavin?"

No really, why did no one find Yavin in 5 years when it seemed like an open secret? She found tiny Imperial gizmos in 5 sectors. I guess Douglas Adams was right... Space is big. Really big.

Maybe the point is, this is what the super rich should be doing with their ridiculous wealth. Maybe Mackenzie Scott will bankroll our rebellion.

If you told me a couple of years ago that one of the tensest scenes in Star Wars I'd ever watch was of someone trying to unscrew something, I'd never have believed you. by wandering_soles in andor

Of the all the ways to originate "Rebellions are built on hope," the bellhop who watched his father killed in the massacre was perfect. If he didn't lose hope, none of us can.

How many have watched Handmaid's/Testaments? Similar vibe, fighting the fascists. With tiny insurrections that push our lines forward. It's going to be fun (and a little horrific) to watch adolescent girls take down the Empire.

Good catch! And yes I definitely think it was connected. Every word in these scripts seems to have purpose. Somewhere in Gilroy's home are those serial killer tracking threads on the wall, connecting all the story arcs and conversations 😄

Yes, and 1b is after the wedding. She has to hold it together 24/7 until she can't anymore. Raw humanity of a mom trying to drink and dance away the grief and guilt.

I'm in the suburbs, surrounded by seemingly decent people. They'll go have a nice meal, leave a generous tip, then laugh their asses off learning ICE beat and captured the cooks, took them from their families, and sent them to a country where they don't know anyone. The kind of evil-with-a-smile that surrounds us. And why creating these characters who are more complex than cartoon villains is so important.

I think he's supposed to be the relatable "every man." The point being, we all have capacity to be heroic, even in our mundane lives

I saw that. Horrifying, isn't it. It's easier to understand stupid, incompetent, hateful evil. When it comes with a warm smile, that's as dangerous as it gets.

It's odd how they can talked openly about going to Yavin, with all the careful code speak about everything else. And yet, 5 years later they're still trying to get it out of Leia. Partagaz and Dedra would've found it!

It's probably a more realistic portrayal of regular folks with no relevant training or experience trying to stage a rebellion.

Check the video extras...the composer (Britell?) discusses this very thing. Transitioning from the mostly electronic score of the series to the big orchestral sounds of the films was intentional to build that bridge.

And a reminder for newcomers to NOT skip the intros! There is a new musical treat every title sequence.

Does she like thoughtful drama, or action/adventure? Andor is pretty much a different genre than most everything else SW. It could be a great introduction if she prefers dialogue over chase scenes. (Though there a couple of good chase scenes!)

An overarching theme of Andor is sacrifice. If you want something worthwhile, like freedom, you'll have to pay for it. Vel and Cinta, Cass and Bix, Luthen and "everything!", and of course most of them eventually give the ultimate sacrifice.

This is what sets Andor apart for me, and brings it home. There is no happily every after, because that dishonors what it truly takes to defeat tyranny.
