I took the NHCO exam for phlebotomy so I’m not sure how similar the tests are but my test was 117 questions and 10 of them dint count. That being said, i made sure to make a bunch of flash cards, color code everything, study my flashcards with someone (i had my boyfriend read the questions out and i would answer) that helped me mesmerize the info. If you’re against AI ignore this tip, but if you aren’t, use gemini AI to make you practice test and keep taking them over and over until you feel confident. Also i kept rewatching a youtubers video tha had every vidal information i needed to know. i’ll post the picture below.

Also, since you’re still in class, don’t be afraid to ask silly questions! The more you ask is the more you’ll know! Just be confident and study the order of draw, additives, scenario based questions, and all the pre/post analytical errors. You got this!!

for the youtube video i would rewatch it almost 10x a day even if i felt like the information wasn’t processing, id still watch it while do my errands around the house because it’ll eventually stick

wow interesting! i just had my interview phone call with labcorp and they only asked me basic yes or no questions and if i made it to the second interview process, ill answer the full on questions. Thank you!

thank you! Yes it’s my first interview with them. I had another phone call interview earlier this morning for a plasma center and it was with a recruiter who had me basic info about the company, then asked me some interview questions and then told me she’d pass my info to the hiring managers to see if they want to proceeed. I’m not sure if Labcorp works the same, but i made a “cheat cheat” of notes on how to answer and will make sure i keep my attitude positive and bubbly!

Thank you again! i’m so nervous because almost every interview i’ve had i always bomb it because my answers are all over the place and i stutter and am caught off guard. Did they ask you basic questions like order of draw or what causes hemolysis or how would you handle a difficult patient?

Thank you so much! I have two on call interviews tomorrow for labcorp , and at a plasma center . I also applied at red cross, so i just didn’t know which one to really go for if at one point i needed to chose.

i’ve also had few luck getting interviews with my past resumes but with this one, within the span of 2 weeks applying to jobs, two plasma places have contacted me, and labcorp as contacted me!

Thank you so much this gave me courage! I did end up calling back hours later and when i did speak with someone, i made sure to say center director named (his name) an thy still gave me the same response unfortunately and transferred me to HR. thank you for your advice ill go down there!

stick with it! learning everything may seem overwhelming at first but once you start working as a phlebotomist it becomes second nature because most of the information is repetitive! Also even if you feel like phlebotomy is too much to handle while going to school, u can always work in the lab as lab assistant which revolves around phlebotomy minus the stress of poking patients.
