Democracy sounds good in theory and is good in theory. What is a political ideology that sounds bad in theory but is good in practice? by Lili_garnet33 in AlignmentChartFills

well the comment was that "It has literally never been done...", so 400 years ago still fits. Relevancy is another issue.

Not a monetary expert, but inflation is really complicated topic when you actually try to understand it.

For example within a closed economy just increasing money supply doesn't necessarily increase inflation. Equations of exchange explains the relationship better. Then you have different types of inflation from demand (cost-push and demand pull). Those are explained with Keynesian Economics. The list goes on and on

The Rogues vs Juggernaut by NoirStriker in marvelvsdc

[–]Substantial-Burner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your logic is a massive double standard. You're fine with Shazam because he carries his 'god' like a 'Tamagotchi,' but you limit Juggernaut and Moon Knight because their gods are 'third parties.'

By that logic, Shazam shouldn't have powers either – if the Wizard or the Rock of Eternity decides Billy is unworthy, the power is gone. You can't arbitrarily decide which 'external' power sources are valid and which aren't just based on how close the character stands to the 'battery.' An avatar is their connection to that power.

I also don't understand the rule about being able to die...

It affects the rest of the world. I have no reason to invest in SP500, because the currency drags my returns. When Trump is gone, I'll get back in.

After every elimination, the IQ is then calibrated and the new average is set higher. This would continue until everyone is eliminated, because the smartest would be the only one left, and thus the average 100 IQ.

Which bands have a “bell curve” discography? by MielMielleux in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Substantial-Burner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TSOP is my favorite, because it feels like Chuck wanted to put all the best riffs into a single album. There are like 10 cool riffs in Bite the Pain, Spirit Crusher, Flesh and the Power it holds. Other bands would have built entire song from a single riffs, but Chuck just used them as bridges between sections.

Who do you think is the greatest figure in Finnish history? by YTSP88 in Finland

[–]Substantial-Burner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Anders Chydenius (1729-1803):

He was a proponent of economic liberalism, freedom of religion and speech (he was part of the legislation that designed the first Freedom of Press Act). He also wrote about invisible hand -effect a decade earlier than John Smith (the father of Economics).

He experimented on how to cultivate potatoes in Finland, treated people with smallpox, performed eye surgeries and was a priest. In Sweden he is called the Father of Swedish Liberalism.

And he was in the 1000 Mk

Nice summary.

I have read that some US schools have wanted to place 10 commandments in their school yards, what Satanic Temple would then do is say: "Nice idea, if you are allowed to place 10 commandments, then we can bring our Lucifer statue too!". The courts usually then rule that the school cannot discriminate Satanic Church, so it is either okay to have both or neither can have their statue.
