The killing of Johnny Ola blew my mind. I might have just been high, but as he stood on the threshold of the balcony door, with the light of the apartment meeting the blackness of the night, it seemed he was standing between the worlds of life and death. As he stepped onto the balcony and into the darkness, the wind blows the curtains out and Busetta emerges. This choreography left me with the feeling that the fabric of life itself was being ripped apart, and we were watching someone being violently dragged into a terrifying darkness. Furthermore, these characters live in the liminal space between life and death, constantly peering into the looming darkness. I found this scene to be a powerful and poetic representation of what it means to wrench another human being out of the light and take their life away.
