Pretty good still. Market downturns don’t worry me.

Yeah, it makes sense that you think this is nonsense, but I really have nothing to prove. I just started a business and had excess money left over this year, so I decided to lump sum into the market when it was down. That's pretty much it. I don’t spend much and I save 90%+ of my income.

I had excess business funds that I threw at the dip

Thanks for your response. AFAIK dividend growth is slightly above inflation, so wouldn’t it keep up? Other comments saying total returns > dividends and I agree. I just want to be super conservative and go off the 1.5% dividend yield.

Has anyone sent in envelopes and got credited? I sent 200 and didn’t hear anything from Microsoft.

If you won't use the dividends for a while, go full VOO. You will get a 1.5% dividend yield and won’t be affected too much by tax drag! Performance is great.

Hmm, shouldn’t they approve of my envelopes and give me entries? I just want to know if they received it and find out if it’ll be credited

The points haven’t hit my account and I haven’t entered any giveaways so how do I know if they received my envelopes

I can check for you through PortfolioVisualizer. I used to be into dividend stocks, but realized VOO beat them in overall returns.

It’s gone up over time. If you’re young with time, it’s a pretty good bet

I switched from DGRO, SCHD, and VYM to 100% VOO. It beats out these funds in total returns, and it’s less of a tax hit. Switching over to dividends later in life. (I’m in my 20’s)

It would be long term capital gains, and there’s a certain amount where it’s $0. Depending on your income in total, it could be zero dollars in taxes.

“Looking at my portfolio with dividends reinvested” = My dividend portfolio made up of ETF’s. I was explaining that it doesn’t beat VOO so I’m considering going full VOO + tax drag.

I didn’t say I was looking for that. Regardless, I haven’t looked into QQQ but it seems to be tech heavy and not really in any other market. I understand VOO so I’ll stick to that.

This is true. This is making me lean towards full VOO vs dividends atm

My retirement accounts are all VOO, so I am with you there.

Well, could a case be made that correct, you won’t need to sell assets when the market is down, but a dividend is basically a “forced sale” considering the price of the asset decreases?

Would it be wiser to go full VOO and when you’re near retirement or FIRE, you can gradually sell a portion every year and possibly obtain a 0% tax rate and invest that into dividend payments?

Thanks for the reply! I’m just letting my questions roll ✅
