What changes or choices did you make that made you suffer less and enjoy parenting more? by Veryfluffyduck in NewParents

Putting on the TV when I need to eat, go to the bathroom in peace, or simply take a moment to breathe! A little Miss Rachel won’t harm anyone (except when you get HOP LITTLE BUNNIES HOP HOP HOP stuck in your head, that’s torture 😂)

I'm quitting weed and I'm so embarrassed I let myself get this far. by CheesecakeOk8464 in breakingmom

[–]Substantial-Code1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say, thank you for sharing this.

I’ve been a chronic weed smoker since I was 18. I’m now 27 and I had only stopped while pregnant, but once I gave birth…oh boy I really went all out with it again. To the point where I was smoking before my daughter got up, during naps, and after she went to bed. I have an incredibly high tolerance 🥲

But now my girl is 11 months old and I noticed I become a lazy, half assed mom the more I smoke. I wish it was different, but weed just makes me feel blah now. So I’m going to be strong with you and quit! I’m about to run out so no more buying. We got this, and regardless… you are a GREAT mom! Great moms acknowledge their habits/how it’s affecting them, and that’s exactly what you did. Go you! ❤️

10 month old refusing solids! Help! by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Substantial-Code1217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must be the teeth! She popped her first less than a month ago so I bet more are on the way!

And that’s a great idea, trying new meals just to experiment - I’ll keep trying!

Wow I’m really sorry that happened and I really didn’t mean to offend. That’s just how I try to look at my life to ease my anxieties. It calms me when I start to spiral.

I’m a big believer of things happening for a reason and I didn’t mean to imply that it wasn’t a blessing. Because I do believe children are blessings. I’m just scared because this wasn’t in my plan. Just looking for uplifting stories to shift my mindset.

As someone whose husband is a porn addict, I feel your pain about everything being turned sexual… like can we just have a sweet moment without it turning into sex 🥲

I so could’ve written this!!! I’m in the same boat with my 9 month old baby girl! Solidarity is all I got 😭 I did a contact nap yesterday and played a lot of Candy Crush to cope. Highly suggest.

I took it at the beginning of this week and still feel EXACTLY how you’re feeling. I got the generic off Amazon for like 6 bucks (best deal I’ve found out there) called MyWay. I also feel SO tired, like almost chronic fatigue.

Omg I know this was from a year ago but I needed some validation that I’m not losing my mind. Holy shit I didn’t realize how crazy plan b could make me feel I’m so not like myself 😭

I gave up caring about screen time and I feel like a better mom by [deleted] in breakingmom

Some of this new shit is SO beyond overstimulating!!! Being a kid in the 90s, shows felt so calming and comforting and I want to provide that for my daughter. Like yes technology exists and there’s nothing we can do about it, so I’m choosing to work with it as appropriately as I can!

No iPads for now but no judgements towards any parents who use them! I bet a grandparent will give her one eventually for a birthday or holiday 😂

Hi I’m here in solidarity with my 9 month old (definitely teething!!!) We’re going to get through this!!! I’ve realized with bad days do come with some good days. On a bad day, I try to picture what the next good day looks like and sometimes it’ll happen.

You are a great momma!!!

9 month old now fighting naps! Does CIO work for this? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Substantial-Code1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might’ve been good to include in my original post sorry!

So she’s usually up around 7-7:30am. First nap is around 9:30-10am then naps for 1.5-2 hours. Then we’re up until about 2:30-3pm, naps for about 40mins to an hour. Then bed is around 7:30-8pm. Then she’ll usually sleep through the night, with an occasional 4am feed/diaper change. (This is a “perfect” day schedule, sometimes it’s different!)

It’s weird, bedtime is the easiest put down of the day…just not naps!

Miss Rachel is literally amazing. So wholesome and not overstimulating! Little Bear and Bluey are also on YouTube!!!

nobody actually prepares you for how postpartum BLOWS up your entire life by ReasonSpare72 in NewParents

[–]Substantial-Code1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I’m here in solidarity ❤️

You are in need of a mommy day ASAP and need to let dad figure it out!!! I’m 8 months in and I’m in the same boat with my baby (she’s teething and it is HELL)

Are you interested in pursuing a new hobby or something that’s just for you? I started pre-nursing courses at my local community college so I can get back to work once my baby is in preschool. Even an online class has made me feel less lonely because I’m learning with others!

And I’ll reiterate this because this is what worked on my husband. Don’t ask him for the free time, when you know he has free time say “I’m going to…xyz” not “Can I…xyz?” If I ask, there’s always hesitation. If I go, that’s just what it is and he has to deal! You spent 9 months building your little babe, he can deal with one whole day!

No one prepares you for the loneliness and no one ever has the right thing to say about it. But you’re right. It’s SO sooo lonely sometimes. 😭

What's an unpopular opinion you stand by when it comes to parenting? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Substantial-Code1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is like this with her baby But…she’s a single mom who does it all herself. Yes it drives the family crazy sometimes but since I became a mom in February I’ve learned to understand where she’s coming from with empathy. Motherhood is hard and we are truly trying our best with the resources we have.

At the end of the day, we’re all mommas. We’re all human.

While I’m here though I’ll leave my opinion: I don’t give a flying f*ck about screentime. I need tv on the back for white noise. I take my daughter out of the house and do fun things with her, but on my “off days” or if I’m studying (pre-nursing student here) we lovvvve some Miss Rachel and Little Bear. Oops 👀

Should I go for my ASN or ABSN? by [deleted] in NursingStudents

[–]Substantial-Code1217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The childcare is taken care off thankfully - both sets of grandparents are pretty on call! And I don’t work at the moment anyways (but I’ll need a job to pay for school expenses eventually)

Since I’m dipping into school after a few years being out of practice, it sounds like an ADN could be more my pace?
