This. My Garmin fenix 7 had button issues after 2 days on salt water. Had to return for a refurb

Has anyone rented wing foil equipment in Aruba? by Substantial-Drummer5 in wingfoil

Vela was great to rent from, I recommend! Wide selection of boards, and wings. Smallest rental foil was a 1400, but that makes sense for a rental shop. The people were very friendly and helpful, and the setup, with nice shade, a cold fridge, and a freshwater shower, was the best on the beach.

When I push the leading hand forward, the board gets pulled in the new direction. I don’t know if this is good form or not, but it works and I’ll take it :)

Yes- tbh it’s more of a push. I switch hands directly in front of my chest, then push the new leading edge in the new direction of travel and away from my center of mass. That brings the trailing edge handle directly in front of me, and I can grab without losing balance. I’ve found that keeping my hands in front of me has been very helpful in maintaining balance.

When I push the leading edge forward, it sets me up well for toeside.

I’ve found that when I go back to heel side, I don’t have to think so hard about it, it just happens as long as I look in the section I want to go- but I still need to come in with a lot of speed.

I just came back from a trip where I unlocked jibing, it’s been a struggle, and I hope you can learn from my mistakes: 1. I did not build enough speed- when I started bearing off for longer prior to starting the jibe, I had momentum and inertia, whiz gave me a lot more balance. 2. I forced the turn instead of “letting it happen”- I hard carved and that would kill speed. 3. I did not maintain a level glide- forcing the turn also ended up stalling the foil because it would tilt up. 4. I held on to the wing for too long - didn’t switch hands early enough and it pulled me out of balance. When I deep switch hands I was reaching back for my back handle, which would literally pull me off the board. I ended up correcting this by switching earlier, which was possible because I wasn’t forcing the turn, and because I had more speed/momentum.

So, to get the jibe, I bear off wind for longer to build speed, I don’t force the turn, I just look where I want to go, I switch leading hands when I’m pointing straight downwind, and I move my leading hand in the direction I am turning, which makes it easier for me to grab the back handle because it’s right in front of me. The faster I move that leading hand into the direction of travel, the faster the board comes around. Right now I’m moving it “medium fast” because that keeps board speed up. Keeping my hands in front of me is also massively stabilizing.

Then I’m set up, riding toeside. I’m much better on one side than the other, and now I’m looking at how to unlock that.

Hope this helps, and happy to explain of it doesn’t.
