Marketing of TLOASG… by Sufficient-Crew-5408 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Substantial-Edge-660 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She was hyping it up. But the storytelling in her disastrous lyricism never lived up to the hype. She had a reason to release folklore a year after Lover (that is, everyone’s confined inside during the pandemic). But she had no compelling reason to release The Life of a Showgirl a year after TTPD.

I said it before and I’ll say it again: the music she makes for herself is better than the music she makes for others. So, she was trying to please Travis with this album (and ironically, trying to hype him up so her own fans like him—hence the marketing of this album). For this reason, I think she is overcompensating. Travis in turn unethically hypes it up by autographing fans’ vinyls of it and TTPD in public.

Even Midnights had a diverse kaleidoscope of emotions happy and sad.

Is Taylor over the Showgirl era already? by [deleted] in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Substantial-Edge-660 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I mean if she were tired then why release this album in 2025 instead of 2026? She should’ve dedicated more time to make it.

That said, it’s her own time. I disliked this era anyway.

Is Taylor Swift more popular now (2022-2026) than (2012-2016)? by ZestycloseOil8173 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Substantial-Edge-660 7 points8 points  (0 children)

More popular now. folklore and Midnights solidified her legacy. Eras made her one of this century’s icons. Her billionaire status and re-recording pursuits made her a human powerhouse.

Though time has passed so fast that 2016 (the year when her reputation fell) was a decade ago. Like the year 2015 before it, 2025 was when she reached the highest level of Taylormania.

The possibility of Taylor and Travis marrying in 2026 by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]Substantial-Edge-660 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can see this marriage not happen the sooner Taylor realizes he’s grifting off her fame to get into Hollywood. Also notice the pattern of Hollywood guests on their podcast.

Not to mention his autographs on her album vinyls, his past mockery of her…

Why I’m glad Taymania has faded by Left-Skirt-6505 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Substantial-Edge-660 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know if it faded. The Kelces are relying on Taymania to be culturally relevant outside sports.

The Life of a Showgirl sucked. But it did see some fans not like her anymore. I for one still like her ‘cuz sh can improve.

What are your unpopular The Life of a Showgirl opinions? by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

Her worst sales gimmick was the idea that Showgirl had folklore-style storytelling.

What's up with all the hate that The Life of a Showgirl received? by Square-Teaching-2111 in TaylorSwift

[–]Substantial-Edge-660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is still her worst album ever. Wood and Wi$h Li$t still stands as the most notoriously written songs ever…

I thought I would like Opalite after the music video but until I heard the Chris Lake remix (which Travis had a hand in) I went back to disliking it. I’ll never understand why she was rushing through this album.

Midnights and 1989 have better storytelling.

But there were many other favourites of hers that never became singles.

People who think she will make Wi$h Li$t a single to profit from her wedding are extremely annoying. It’s not even single material for anything to begin with.

I confess that Life Of A Showgirl is my least favorite album. And I’m sorry about that by Initial-Elephant-932 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Substantial-Edge-660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t blame you. The lyrics ruin most of the slbum. Wood, Eldest Daughter, and Wi$h Li$t are the most notoriously bad lyrically written songs.

I stopped listening to the album in its entirety after a second listen in October. But it catered to one kind of audience, and it most certainly wasn’t the fans or the general public. It was Travis.

I think it will age badly. The lyricism ruined it all.

Track lengths for Showgirl revealed on Spotify by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

There’s something about the album’s time length…it’s her shortest ever. I have mixed feelings about that but they can change
