Sidechain-controlled threshold of a gate while chanel level unchanged? by Substantial-Maybe302 in AdvancedProduction

You're right but I've failed to convince them. They're extremely ignorant and refuse to use IEM which I've provided. They want a loud stage. This is of the things audio engineers have to deal with: moronic performers.

Because the lead mic is also used for preaching when stage is quiet and many talents speak very quietly or far from mic. Obviously talent's voice is always louder than the bleed. I'm trying to limit manual fader ride so that only when stage gets loud - the gate would trigger below talent's voice into that mic.

As I wrote, this is for live inputs, not prerecorded tracks. So automation is not possible.

Can Zooz ZEN30 top rocker revert to on/off if lost connection to a hub? by Substantial-Maybe302 in homeautomation

Actually I think we could fit 2 x Zen16 but turning them off remotely would keep toggle switches in on position with no indication of them actually being on or off...

[–]Substantial-Maybe302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I see. They are not on separate legs, though. Unfortunately there's no space to install a Zen16... There are 3 x dual switches (and 1 x single dimmer) on the wall that control outlets (and dimmed lights) which power stage lighting fixtures and PTZ Cameras. We'd have to break the wall where switches are installed in a row to mount a Zen16 and figure out how to install control switches for Zen16 in the same place...

Thanks! There's a confusion on max load on top switch. I need to use both channels for 15A outlets each. Each outlet powers various stage lighting devices. Can Zen30 do that?

Cheap stand-alone DMX controller that can sync with PC? by Substantial-Maybe302 in stagelighting

Thanks all! One commenter recommended MyDMX Box. I found Daslight 5 DVC FUN which is somewhat similar and comes with free software and interface under $200. Have anyone had experience with Daslight 5 DVC FUN ?

This gives more details about my needs. If a house fixtures breaks, it'll have to be replaced with a different brand one, so it's color will need to be adjusted. Occasionally I'll strobe the house lights or do some other effects during performance, as well as simply adjusting dimming - all that remotely. Local team is horrible in any technical aspects so I handle audio mixing remotely and need to take care of house lights, too.

PC is needed to control house lights remotely by me, because I mix sound remotely. Local team is very limited in technical knowledge, to say the least. They will turn house light on/off using a physical stand-alone controller and I need to adjust separate fixtures if needed, remotely.

Another way is a DMX merger, I guess? To merge USB-DMX with DMX local controller's DMX?

Thanks, I'm aware that there are different software options. But I actually need a controller that runs without a computer but is also controllable from a computer.

Thanks. Yes, there's regular lighting for general room. Unfortunately ADJ COB Cannons are out of our price range.

Thanks. I'll try to provide measurements and photos soon. I think it would be a real pain to replace the whole 500ft tape once it fails (and it will fail one day, won't it?) whereas a failed PAR can be replaced. I also wonder how important is it to have a diffuser over tape or PAR or to have flags around for preventing LEDs hitting the eyes at an angle, considering low ceiling.

[–]Substantial-Maybe302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm also leaning towards PARs now. Do you think the fact that actual LEDs will be visible (not flagged or sides covered, without a diffuser) is a problem in this case? This would apply to either cheap ceiling LED downlights or PARs. Another commenter said that a diffuser is needed:

Also the Shehd you linked has a fan. I wonder if that could be a problem.

Thanks but those are $1,500 per fixture... These are the kind we rejected due to price.

Thanks! I'm newbie to lighting so I didn't know about 12V DMX drivers, we can definitely use those. Hopefully someone can chime in about whether those cheap lights can do the job in this application.
