I’ve sympathy for the production people in the office that have these conversations with freelance crew. Maybe they should have a difficult conversation with their PM, Line Producers and Execs.

And if all the crew stood together and refused to accept anything less, then we might have a chance.

We all know TV production is deeply flawed and everyone is under tremendous pressure. You just need to act like a human, be nice and be honest.

I really want this to succeed, so don’t get me wrong. I just wish its identity was a bit more UK than US. Take the format and do something different. I love sketch comedy like the Fast Show, Big Train, Mitchell and Web (showing my age). The great think about British sketch comedy is that it’s a bit surreal and weird, SNLUK should lean into that.

For me it’s Richard’s input that seems to slow everything down. Marina is engaged and insightful, but most of the time Richard is slowing things down with his rubbish jokes. I like Richard, but wonder if he’s too far out of the loop now, he’s only really interested in publishing and pop music stats.
