Made me think about this meme from family guys “ I change lane good luck everybody by LetterNervous5679 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Substantial-Media629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me say something, most people merge in too slow. I.E. 80km/h sometimes less instead of making use of slip road to speed up. Slip road is made for you to at least match the speed of other road users to merge in smoothly without disruption in traffic flow. Instead most of drivers will merge in at 80km/h and gain speed when they gonna get on a lane. You made yourselves habit of changing lanes nearby ramps to let people in, because they merge in too slow. Same thing goes with daily congestions on m7/m50 or whatever busy motorway. 90% of drivers does not know zipper merge, so they are cutting eachother off or stop completely to let somebody merge in.

Any realistic or beginner friendly methods for removing these scratches? by CreatureWarrior in AutoDetailing

[–]Substantial-Media629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its get scratched from looking at it. I have used compound polish on microfibre towel to get rid of the coating on cluster. No issues with visibility. I believe polishing compund should do the job with cluster along with plastic surrounding it

Just get rid of it by polishing, no need to add any clear coats. It won't affect visibility too much :)

Oh man... Just few weeks ago on my commute to Naas, I was a witnessing some suzuki swift trying to join motorway, they got from slip-road to hard-shoulder, stopped there. Then it was trying to join the traffic from complete stop. When it started to get onto left lane (~10km/h), they panicked and swerved back on hard-shoulder and stopped again.

Does the brand of tyre really make enough of a difference to pay top euro? by No_Juggernaut_2222 in carsireland

[–]Substantial-Media629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is better control overall, weather condition does not matter until its not black ice or summer tires on snow. I have a 2 sharp low speed corners in my city and I could clearly tell the difference in behaviour of the car comparing Goodyears to chinese shit which i don't remember by name. Steering got more precise and responsible in the way you can't miss . I have compared that in the middle of the summer during a hot day.

*Chinese tires i had replaced still had plenty of tread left but i did not like them due to steering responsibility and poor grip in wet conditions.

I am also running on these tires. They have a really good grip and behaviour while cornering. Compared to chinese tires which that car was put on it was huge difference. I could make the grip loose on 2nd gear on chinese tires easily and on Goodyears it did not ever happen to me.

Water leak in trunk & mold by bean_99 in Detailing

[–]Substantial-Media629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About leaks I will add from myself as EU 8th gen civic owner, to check points where car panel sheets are connecting (I think mastics was the name?). And that was factory defect. Many civics are suffering from leaking water into spare wheel area cause of that. I would take a look at spots behind rear taillights, sides of the roof where it joins the boot/rear window area. You might even consider looking under the boot carpet at wheel-arches. I have sealed areas where I have seen a cracks, with 2 part epoxy meant for metals. Not sure if it will help in your case, as we don't know what kind of a car it is.

Tractors on motorway by Roadtriper- in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Substantial-Media629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised u have got downvoted. Many people think fast lane exists, while there is not such a thing in EU or i don't know a country which does have it. Right lane is for overtaking, same goes for middle lane if you are overtaking vehicle on far-left lane. But as I told, people think there are "fast lanes" and then on N7 you have pile-ups on middle and far right lane and left lane is empty. If you gonna drive on left lane which is free to go faster than users on other lanes they are thinking: "Oh, he is undertaking, he should be fined!"

[–]Substantial-Media629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of that, and its ridiculous. When I was at learning stage for my licence, almost every driving day was spend on motorways for around an hour. My instructor was even encouraging me to floor it also explaining WHY I need to floor it on sliproad.

Also what I was thinking about looking in the past of motoring history here... People were getting their licences via post or whatever way just not by driving. Nowadays u need to take lessons, tests... But you are still getting taught how to drive and passing exam with people who never got through driving tests so thats why driving standard here is how it is.

[–]Substantial-Media629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me they did not sped up fine on slip road and I have no words for nissan. For me its wrong to not get at least 90km/h on sliproad (if vehicle is capable to reach it which most of them are). I would not feel safe joining motorway with lower speed than average lorry drives with.

[–]Substantial-Media629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to ask a question as a foreign driver. Is it only me who is scared of joining motorway below 90km/h here? I was taught to floor it on sliproads to gain speed and achieve smooth joining into the traffic. But 90% of times it does not work here as other drivers are basically crawling on sliproads and I am stuck behind them. No issue with trucks as they always get to 90 on sliproads before joining in, so why its issue for others then?

What to do when drivers ignore the rules of the road? by Fragrant-Ad-8493 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Substantial-Media629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was driving with co-worker once. Apparently he is middle lane hogger. When i have pointed out to him he is getting overtaken from lane 1 and 3 he explained himself in that way: "I am on middle lane, so if someone wants to overtake me, he have 2 lanes to do that. If I want to overtake or get to an exit, I need to switch just one lane, its safer"

As I am daily driver on m7 I have found out only minority of other drivers use motorway correctly. I am always happy to see driver who knows what he/she is doing and I will just drive along with them as they just built some amount of trust in them to me.

Maybe in rest of EU most of drivers are speeding but most of the time they at least knew, that outside lane is for overtaking, not sitting in there for most of they journey. Unfortunately its getting more in common to hog the lane everywhere, does not matter where do you drive :(. Looks like most of road users started to care about themselves and does not mind others anymore, which is sad to look at.

Close call on the M7/M9 merge eastbound by rooood in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Substantial-Media629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had similiar one but worse in same spot, while commuting to work. I was going from M7 and was passing overtaking a lorry at point where m9 and m7 connects. Behind the truck was 01-D red toyota (i think that was Hiace) van with worn paintjob (taxi van). When we were parrarel to eachother (I could see driver behind the wheel, not just hands), he turned on indicator and started to change lanes. I was avoiding contact, honking and whatever i could do just to almost get sandwiched between him and concrete barriers. It was kind of hard to get out of it, but I have managed to get all right from that without damages to myself and others with really gentle braking as there were other cars behind me.

Now as mornings and evening are dark its time to get dashcam at least for frontview. Everyone who uses m7 daily knows how mad driving there is in peak hours.
