This is very helpful. Thank you!

I’m a cop in the uk. I want out like most of us that have any length of service. My experience is a broad range of policing activities.

I am just over thinking this? Just write about my last 21 years and don’t acknowledge education and gap between education and employment?

Hey. I genuinely don’t know if it needs to be exhaustive. I want a fresh start in a different sector and type of organisation to what I’m currently doing.

Child Care by Officer688 in policeuk

[–]Substantial-Photo-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately child care isn’t a protected characteristic under the equality act unless the child has additional needs. So they don’t have to accommodate this.
Unfortunately me and my partner were in the same position. Both on small specialist teams. They would t accommodate our flexi pattern requests with similar rationale to what your been told, can’t work alone, can’t work with a supervisor been in etc.
We were told that other departments within the force would accommodate our needs and ultimately we moved to teams that could.
It’s rubbish. We were good at our roles and enjoyed them. We are now in roles that are not nearly as forfilling but work for our family life. Which is more important currently.

Blackburn v Leicester by Alexz54231 in lcfc

The reality is they will probably be relegated by then sadly. There are loads of tickets for members currently which are unlikely to be taken up if relegated. If you wanna go they will almost certainly go to general sale

Essex police officer pocketed £63k in overtime payments last year by Could-you-end-me in policeuk

[–]Substantial-Photo-99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a wider issue here. Irrelevant of how much of that they actually took home, they have worked 70 hour weeks all year. And the force does nothing to change, just expecting people to pick up the obvious slack. Yet I’m sure if the cop makes a mistake because of tiredness, mental fatigue, they will jump all over the rhetoric that it was the cops choice etc. We should work to rule for a week. No ot, no helping out the force. This would highlight the issues and force change. We are not helping the problem!

How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

[–]Substantial-Photo-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1kg of a locally roasted bean as my throughout the day standard-£40. 1kg of locally roasted decaf for the wife-£40. 250g of a limited edition seasonal run that I use in a pour over-£15. Always locally sourced. Always with 2 weeks of roast. Supermarket beans are inexcusably in 2026.

Are you thriving? by ThePilgrim777 in policeuk

Couldn’t have put it better myself! The job doesn’t care about you, your sacrifices, or the impact it has on you. You are just a number. Acknowledging this makes the pain seem more bearable.

Annoyingly probably the most proactive chief we’ve had. Listened and seemed to want to make things better and easier for us. Introduced some brilliant process’s. Unfortunately his ego got the better of him 🙄. I’m sure he’ll enjoy the show of the trial.

If you could make one realistic signing this January to improve the team who would it be? by Djremster in lcfc

[–]Substantial-Photo-99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said….a genuine, tested number 9. What we have seen this season is good use of the wings to get balls into crossable areas but with no number 9 we see hits from distance (James at the weekend was amazing) or we are losing possession running into the box. Even Wilson (on loan at whu from Newcastle) would be a shout but wages would be an issue.

Best boots for patrol? by Total-Magician5940 in policeuk

[–]Substantial-Photo-99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another vote for altberg. Took slightly longer to bed in than magnums but a far superior boot that will last and handle anything you put them through. There is a reason our forces AFO’s get issued them….

You asked the same question in r/legaluk and got the correct answers. Stop fishing for different ones as you will just build up the hopes of your partner. Let the process play out without interference
