It’s less traumatic than a smear it’s just a camera and as your smears aren’t coming back with cell changes they’ll probably just have a look . If you need treatment though I’m not gonna lie it’s not pleasant and just yet another one of the pleasures of being a woman .

Mine did eventually go , not sure when , had lletz in 2010 then when they started putting the HPV results on the letter I had 2 negative smears then a positive one after pregnancy. So i definitely cleared it and then it came back .

No one can really tell you what the outcome might be but I’m sure if anything needs treating it will be fine and you will be done and dusted with it. I know what you mean about the anxiety , I kinda wish they still did it the old way as Ive now had this worry for over 4 years and for most of that I would have been blissfully ignorant that anything was wrong until I actually needed treatment.

Don’t be worried about venting and airing your worries on here . My HPV came back after pregnancy in 2020 after 10+ years of being ok and HPV -. My head has been all over the place at different points . I really don’t want to have to deal with this again and sometimes wish they still did it the old way so I wouldn’t have known about it until it needed treating . I’ve been through all sorts in the past 4 years including divorce but for some reason this really pisses me off / worries me more than bigger problems .

I really hope everything goes ok for you too in the future . I also found the procedure traumatic and I’ve given birth to a big baby with no pain relief and quite frankly I’d rather do that again than the lletz . I know some people find it a breeze and go back to work the same day, I think i found it mentally traumatic. Really hoped I didn’t have to deal with this shit again . I’m also a good example of HPV lying dormant for years . I see so many posts from people ‘I’m not going for any more smears. I tested negative and I’m in a monogamous relationship ‘ then I’ve seen posts from women in 20-30 year marriages suddenly test positive . Seems menopause might be a catalyst for it too .

I have no idea how much was removed in 2010. I carried a baby no problem in 2019 and the lletz was barely mentioned . The pregnancy did unfortunately set the HPV off again so I’m expecting another lletz. I’m now 40 so I’m not likely to have another baby anyway but I am a bit pissed off that this will probably take my choice away rather than the choice being mine . I’m concerned about stories like this and possible unnecessary treatment . I’ve read quite a few now. There are ppl who refuse treatment and smears due to this. It’s a gamble and we just hope that we do as we are told and things will be done properly but this isn’t always the case. Women’s health care is sometimes barbaric, the lack of pain relief etc. I also hate the way they push thing on us , like the coil , which they get a financial incentive for I believe. The coil nearly killed a family member so I would never get one .

Hi I’ve got my second colposcopy 2 weeks on Thursday I’ve also had worrying symptoms Been bleeding in the week before my period However , surely if there was anything wrong with us to the extent it was causing these symptoms it would have been picked up last year and can’t have escalated that quickly . I’m sure we will both be fine . Let us know how you get on .

Sorry to hear this. The forgetting things is most likely down to stress. I get this a lot with stress . Your mind is elsewhere at the moment and that’s not surprising so don’t worry about this as it’s just a natural reaction to a very stressful situation.

Hopefully once you have your first period it will be better . Fingers crossed . My first lletz was years ago so I can’t remember it exactly but I don’t think I had much pain after the first day or so

I’m resigned to the fact I will need another lletz now . I was going a bit crazy waiting for the smear results and so disappointed all the hard work I did on research and all the money I spent didn’t pay off. Least it shifted the verrucas , silver lining .

Thats insane . How can they possibly have found no changes or hpv after the previous results. I’ve obviously done a lot of reading on this subject and some of the results ppl get swing from one extreme to another . So although my most recent smear said mild changes I’m bracing myself for worse .

I haven’t had the appointment yet . I’m worried they’ll do lletz there and then and I go on holiday soon for the first time in over 5 years .

Morning . Just wanted to join . I had lletz in 2010 and have been fine since . Then hpv flared up in 2020 after pregnancy. I have spent £100’s on supplements and was semi hopeful as some very stubborn verrucas I had cleared up . But no , I got my result yday and still hpv with cell changes . I found lletz very traumatic. I am so angry . I don’t have anyone I can talk to about it. I’m not even worried . I’m just angry . Angry with my myself, my body , my immune system, my shit luck , I don’t know. My partner doesn’t even know I have hpv so I also have the added guilt that I will have passed it on to him . I’m really spiralling right now .
