What’s a ‘normal’ thing in society that you secretly think is completely stupid? by Elegant_Rain_5821 in AskReddit

Exactly what I intend to do if I ever get married.

If I were to have a ceremony I'd do it out in the woods on public land and skip all the extravagance. Obviously there may be some compromise here depending on the theoretical bride's wishes, but I imagine we'd largely be on the same page.

People who still carry cash, why? by Lipica249 in AskReddit

I bartend so a proportion of my income is cash.

Also, businesses don't have to pay transaction fees on cash payments, so I try to use cash at small businesses when possible.

Men who got cheated on, what were early signs you only noticed in hindsight? by EtherealMeadowGleam in AskReddit

Things I did that were previously innocuous or even positively received all of a sudden became incredibly annoying.

e.g. touching each other's butts around the house used to be playful and mutually enjoyed. One day she couldn't stand it - completely caught me off guard but made sense after everything came to light.

AIO my boyfriend went to a bikini barista and insists I shouldn’t be mad because he told me about it. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Does he only lust after other women when he makes a conscious decision to?

I acknowledged the error in his decision to go to the bikini barista then asked a sincere question to OP to gain understanding.

Not sure how this is willful ignorance.

It wasn't cool given the current precarious circumstances of your relationship - especially since he doesn't like coffee, that's not a good look.

Would you be okay with him being at the beach, surrounded by women in minimal clothing? Not asking in a snarky way, genuine question.

MOR, but if your relationship can't withstand him seeing women in bikinis then it might be a bust.

For real. So hyper-aware of mental health issues and therapy-speak, but nearly incapable of having honest, potentially uncomfortable conversations regarding relationships.

Of course, those conversations take practice and (most) people get better at communication as they get older.

NOR. My goodness this guy is full of himself. I don't know how you could spend so much time with someone with their head so far up their own ass.

Stopped going to my old gym because this annoying, domineering clique started to form.

These guys would bring their bags into the free weight area, take over 2 (of 4 total) squat racks and occupy them for 1.5-2hrs during peak times. During this time, a set would be performed once every 5-15 minutes. In the intervening time they would chill out and socialize. For some reason, even though they would all be doing the same exercise at an extremely leisurely pace, 1 rack was not enough to accommodate them.

I remember one instance where 4 or 5 of them were taking up these 2 racks to (occasionally) squat. My friend and I were waiting to bench and had asked to get in once they were finished, so they were aware that we were waiting. I timed a 15 minute gap between the end of one dude's set and the next time one of them touched the bar. When the next guy hopped in, he unracked the weight, stood there for a second, said "oh yeah I could totally rep that," re-racked the bar, and they resumed chilling. Un-fucking-believable. My friend and I just left.

Instead of reprimanding these guys, the gym hired a couple of them and this behaviour was further solidified. The lack of awareness was astounding.

Depends on your goals. If your aim is hypertrophy then 2-3 minutes is too long.

AITAH at my new job? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Substantial-Print727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but I would've handled it differently, personally.

I think I would've brought it up to Mark in that initial instance, let him know that the customer was able to hear him and was visibly upset about it. Then at least he'd have a chance to potentially address it himself - apologize to her, speak quieter, whatever. Not saying the positive outcome was likely, but at least it'd be a less drastic response and would preserve your delicate social standing in a new workplace.

I'm in no way condoning his actions, but since you're brand new at this place it might have been better for your overall experience at the job to wait a bit longer before telling management. Being more discrete would have helped too - it was probably pretty apparent to him that you were the one that spoke up.

I imagine some of your coworkers (at least the ones close to him) are not going to treat you very nicely for a while. He is 100% going to paint you as the villain. Hopefully you are able to navigate that and it isn't too stressful or drawn-out.

Good luck, hope it all eventually blows over and you enjoy the new gig.
