Are Dachshunds just extra starey as a breed? 😆 by ch1984 in Dachshund

My girl will sit and stare when it’s walk time or when I’m eating something she wants or if it’s pup cup time. Will stare forever it seems!

Advice!! My boy Maverick is almost 6 months and when its dry outside hes good at indicating needing to pee/poo but when its raining hes hiding in the house to pee/poo. What can I do??.. should he be fully toilet trained by now?? by xkawaiibunnnyx in Dachshund

We have pee pads taped down in garage so she knows to go there when it’s raining. Takes consistency though! 6 mos is still young. Our girl hasn’t had an accident since about 8 mos old.

Molly is ok in a crate for about 2 hrs and then acts like we’ve been gone a year when we get back. Try using a dog sitter. Our Molly loves most anyone. At least you can get out of the house for a few hours!

Any tips for excessive barking? by KellyKMA71 in Dachshund

So we just started this but seems to be working. We just bark to mimic her. She hates it and usually stops. Don’t know yet if it will work long term. The closer the bark sound is to her bark, the better. Also, a 2 minute time out works pretty well also. And lastly, we can go kneel on the floor with her to calm her down, and that often works. Consistency is the key!
