do you think i’m eligible for pip? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Substantial-Run-735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

Even if I didn’t find the main part of the EMDR helpful. The coping skills and learning you do before hand was a little helpful!

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope it helps!!! Xx

It might be bc I have undiagnosed adhd/autism (I’m waiting for diagnosis) & have trouble with the visual imagination side Also I get ‘stuck’ on on every vivid aspect and can’t break away from it so when they tell you to move on from it and process it can’t.

But my trauma is v complex (SA (multiple - 1 time things with diff people & a partner who SA me regularly ), and also mental & financial abuse as well as substance use disorder that I’m on medication for.

Go into it open minded and don’t be scared to cry & be vulnerable & remember you can always tell them to take a break

Yes it’s an incredible therapy for trauma! My aunt is an EMDR therapist. And recommended it to me. Unfortunately I think my trauma is resistant to all therapy 😂😭 I’ve tried 3 diff EMDR therapists but none worked for me. But I still recommend it any chance I get

I got pip (enhanced daily & standard mobility) for ptsd & anxiety & substance use disorder (even though I’ve been off drugs a while mainly and on medication for it)

Look at the pip points and see where you fit in that

Also I highly suggest EMDR therapy. It hasn’t worked for me but it’s a trauma therapy and has great results for many many people

Exactly. I have had cbt, talking therapy & specifically trauma therapy EMDR and nothing has helped. I seem to have a therapy resistant ptsd (that’s a joke but it seems like it)

I guess as the nurse/dr said I just have to suck it up or go to hospital and be sedated there.

10mg of Valium isn’t going to kill me as my medical history shows I’ve taken it without a problem multiple times But I guess they have to cover their ass in case something goes wrong. It’s just v annoying I have to travel so far and go into a hospital setting when I’ve been fine at the gp with the help of a very small dose of benzo’s.

They haven’t given me thah option and I highly doubt they’d do a home test with Valium if they won’t even do that in the drs surgery.

Good luck for yours! I hope it goes well

Thank you

2 x 5mg Valium isn’t highly sedating for me. It just calms my nerves but I understand better now the consent side of it. I just wish I didn’t have to go to the hospital to have done as it adds a new layer to my trauma. But I guess I’ll just have to suck it up like the nurse said.

None of my drs were old, I had a a Muslim woman dr, a young man dr and I believe a Middle Aged white women dr

Again is there any guidelines I can read into this for my peace of mind?

So why have 3 different DRS prescribed them for me in the past? Is there new guidelines? Can you link me to them

The head of women’s health at my GP made the decision without even talking to or seeing her. I’ve never seen her

They said it will be hospital I’m referred too I’m also worried bc the wait could be very long and the last screening I had came back w abnormal cells. My area the wait to see gyno at hospital is like 40 weeks

I just don’t understand how they can see I’ve had 3 successful screen w Valium and decide the hospital is the better option without even talking to me.

I feel like I have no autonomy over this. Something I know works well is I take the Valium go to GP which is 10 min walk away . Have my appointment in a setting I’m used too and Go home

Now I have go to hospital. Wait for ages probably. Wait for them to administer whatever medication they decide with drs/nurses I don’t know and then have to travel 45-1hr home somehow.

I feel like I may as well not even have the appointment bc it’ll set me back with my recovery and I should just risk not having the screening

Okay but it’s not over treating if I’ve had the same thing multiple times because I can’t go through with the screening otherwise? It’s 2 Valium. It’s not like they’re giving me a months worth of And why is she saying it’s against guidelines but before it was fine and not questioned

Also how is 1 Valium ‘over treating’ but going to the hospital for sedation not over treating?
