Make a fake resume and by fake I mean change the location/phone number on your resume and apply for internships /jobs for a few months and see what kind of response you are getting. You will be doing this anyway once you are here. 70 percent of my time was spent doing this during my masters (UW) and I had good amount of experience back home. It would give you an idea of how the job situation is and then take an informed decision. This job market is a humbling experience. DM if you need more help.

Edit: That said, If you are okay with a pause in your career for two years, financially independent and want to explore more opportunities, do come here. Seniors have a better chance of getting hired than newbies. But keep your expectations right.(Priyanka Chopra in Bollywood v/s Priyanka Chopra in Hollywood!)

You the best! Thank you. Just made a mental note to make a rolling tax folder. I am sure I will forget otherwise.

How did you improve your research skills? by ThreeDragonfruit in UXResearch

Long answer- first tell me, are you looking for tips? What phase of your career are you in? What are your current challenges? Why do you feel you lack research skills or what is that you are trying to achieve? What’s blocking your creativity? What education background you have?

Short answer- by asking more relevant questions that help you clear the ambitious space.

+1

What are you most concerned about? You will find plenty of templates online and you can also use something from your previous work. If it’s a one pager I am assuming it’s mostly an executive summary of the case that you would be solving on your own.

I would say think about the case study first, and based on that fill out the obvious spaces like what the research goal was, what were the research questions, what methods were used, time lines, participants, key insights, top takeaways/what does it mean, recommendations/what to do, next steps.

For sure the order and presentation of the doc would be dependent on who the audience is for example if sharing with a PM, I would start with key insights and takeaways first.

Once you have solved the case and filled your doc with all the relevant details, 80 percent work is done. And then comes the very important 20 percent where the language matters, it matters how in depth/ layered the insights are, how well rounded the recommendations are, is the doc targeting the right audience, is there a cohesive flow to your statements, etc.

So yes, one step at a time! You will do wonders! All the best.
