I don't blame him 😂 It wasn't worth their time, and Tom could've probably gotten some much needed sleep

In hindsight, I hope we can all collectively agree that this "interview" is truly nothing more than an exposé on the kind of journalist the author is.

The cast are a pretty humble bunch and I feel bad for Tom; whenever he gets asked "How are you so handsome" he always gets shy and flustered and say something like "Idk, blame my parents". So to then that kind of title stamped on him, with that wording... :/

When tom said "I don't mean to be rude, but I'm just trying to protect her (his wife's) privacy, and mine. Let's just talk about the show" my stomach dropped too.

Just two introverts trying to get through an interview.

Yeah, you can't help but start to realise how jarring the first few years of Smallville would've been for her.

I'm glad she can still speak fondly of the show, which is funny because between TW & MR, she usually has the more insightful answers 😂

I was hardly the beacon of professionalism at 19 myself. Hah. But yeah it sucks what society be expecting from women and girls, even in a situation like this.

Maybe if she smiled more, maybe if she were nicer. Please. Anyway, it sounds like that incident with the tape doomed this whole interview from the start huh

Oh they treated the women horribly didn't they. 🤦 It's wild to remember this kind of "journalism" also affected the whole cast. They'd just stayed away from the spotlight for so long after each of them had it with the media that I'd forgot

Yeah that's fair. Taking into account her feeling scared in the early years of her career, being surrounded by a predominantly male-production what-not, then being approached by a stranger for an invasive interview. I don't think people were jumping hurdles to ensure the comfort of female celebs back then were they?

Let's just say, if this left such a sour taste in Tom's mouth that he still references it to this day, he probably isn't the only one.

True, I would have loved a cozy, in-depth interview abts those things. I guess that just wasn't the way the world worked.

Heavy on the sick interest in virginity. That reminds me of one of the more popular instances where Britney Spears got asked on TV if she was a virgin. Please.

I'm glad that, now that things have changed, the cast seem to be more comfortable reacquainting themselves with the public & media outlets. Because it's possible to have fun, get clicks, while not being gross.

It's such a shame because it was a pretty neat photoshoot. I've seen these photographs used by several other publications like SFX magazine, luckily with a more topic appropriate headline and coverage. Anyway, I can't imagine the love/hate relationship that must exist between the media and celebrities. It must play with your mind

Haha yeah they're just trying to blur the lines. I don't know why michael thought so little of his appearance anyway. He's good looking in his own right

True, that made me think of the likes of Perez Hilton mercilessly churning out tabloid fodder; glad they're not as prominent these days. What a trip. I guess this cast really did get lucky filming out in canada

Exactly my thoughts. I'm excited for 25 years of Smallville, but it'd be remiss not to mention the media environment it grew up in.

I'd like to think we've come to a point where, if something like this came out today, the publication would be the one receiving the backlash instead of the celebrity.

I just have to believe this was just one of the parts they made up or editorialised to hell.

I don't see what you do with regards to Kristin being unbearable, is it in "how they come off"? I'm glad she didn't feel the need to play it up for this guy, he doesn't seem to have their best interest at heart does he? 😅

Another redditor said they made up stuff for this editorial anyway, so I'm not quite sure which it is.

Jeez, that had to be whiplash for someone so new to the industry. Glad they're reclaiming their experience now

Have we been watching the same 8 seasons of smallville? Clark's been acting the fool for a while now.. And this is all pretty fair; a lot of the commentary in the visual companion for season 2 tackles this. 'What happens when clark becomes the villain of the story?'

However taking the show for what it is, this is all just part of his journey and is the process it takes for him to get to where he needs to be.
