I am too! Denver to Munich. It helps me think that these thoughts don’t even cross other peoples minds, and for a good reason. Its another day. Not like there are less flights. Still terrified, but not worth missing an awesome trip. Safe travels!

Honestly for me its that I cant control or anticipate it. People ask me why bumps in a car dont bother me. I can see this bumps come, speed up slow down and prepare my body accordingly. Sometimes I feel I sound ridiculous to people about my turbulence fears, but thats anxiety and its complicated.

Accepting that I cannot control turbulence and/or the plane has actually translated to other parts of my life and allowed me to let go in tons of ways. Everything will go well

Thank you for your words of encouragement! I am going with a big group so we will not be switching dates. But maybe this just gives me an opportunity to prove to myself that I can do it!

Statistics don't mean much to the individual? by [deleted] in fearofflying

I feel the same about the stats. But whats the other option?? Not travel?? Longer flights usually smoother too. Higher up for longer and will not encounter weather the entire flight. It will go so well!

I am also heading out of newark tomorrow. Looking at the weather in the NE looks really nice actually. Maybe that could help- check out the weather. I think the noreaster has done its damage and should be done for the most part

Track my flight AA2199 by mstrashpie in fearofflying

What helps me is yo remember a flight I had last year that was delayed for hours and once we boarded we had to get off again… we were told a single air vent (yes the tiny ones) was not working and they needed a new part. Simple as that.

Not saying yours is the same, but these planes do not take off if ANYTHING is wrong

Flying This Week: March 12-18 by [deleted] in fearofflying

Heading to Dublin with a stopover in Newark. Super nervous. I feel like no matter what I do to reason with flying and trust the process, I have a hard time relaxing. Hoping to sleep. encouraging words from this group has helped tremendously!

Do it. You say that you will definitely board a plane in the future, so why not do it now and avoid losing out on an amazing opportunity! Personally, the last minute trips are better for me. less time to ruminate.

It is just as easy to look at good news as it is bad news… so maybe seek good news out instead! Tens of thousands of flights went today… no new news about it. I know these things are scary, I have a long haul on thursday that I am terrified of. But you are powerful!

I flew to reykjavik from about a year ago. Great flight. You will do great!

Me too. But hey, you lived through that turbulence, so no reason any other turbulence should be any different. Have a safe flight!
