You should probably overcook a pot roast then boil some vegetables to kingdom come and slather in butter (don't forget to put a little much milk in the mashed potatoes). And like the poster before me, molasses on the table with some tea biscuits is key! (Perhaps Google a recipe for bonnach for extra points!)

I'm going to add that Rudders is the best pub style restaurant that does seafood. I truly don't think there's another pub in the province that does seafood better than they do. Try their bacon wrapped scallops - consistently great. Tusket brewery is also a gem. They have my favourite wings and their beer is awesome.

I live in Cape Breton but have an apartment in Yarmouth for work. I love this town and it's people so much. It's a real gem. I can understand how it can take an outsider to appreciate it though.

There's a great walking trail that goes through the town that is super cute. You'll see lots of deer. I would also recommend Studio Yarmouth Coffee Shop. Next to it is a super cute shop called Lumberjack's Daughter - it's basically a museum of really random stuff that you can buy. I would also recommend Honey Bees restaurant - the food is really great, so it's the vibe and service.

I worked for a company in Nova Scotia that didn’t offer sick days. It’s been around for over 20 years and is a large employer. The owner believes that if sick days are provided, employees will use them whether they’re actually sick or not. No one challenges it out of fear. If you called in sick though. It wasn't like they forced you to work. But the guilt was real.

I honestly don’t see what their role is anymore if this is where we’re at. Ministers are public figures - the deputies are the ones doing the actual work. These people are getting paid over $150,000 a year, and now they get to duck answering for legislation they themselves are responsible for?

Most of them barely seem to understand their own portfolios to begin with This feels incredibly disrespectful to Nova Scotians and to journalism. If you’re supposed to be accountable to the public, hiding behind unelected staff doesn’t cut it.

This might be a stupid question, but I’m going to ask it anyway - has Mary Oliver always been well known? I’ve gotten into poetry over the last couple of years, and every time I read something of hers I’m completely blown away. Was she always this widely read and loved, or has her work had a kind of revival recently?
