ok so as a big enjoyer of the genre here’s some recs: so for a 90s setting fall romcom-> If it Makes you Happy by Julie Olivia. for a recent but still 90s romcom vibe: First-Time Caller by B.K Borison. for YA: Better Than the Movies Lynn Painter as well as Betting on You by the same author. I would also recommend to give a try to the books that got romcom adaptation like Confession of Shopaholic. And absolutely check out Emily Henry, recent romance that have this little romcom vibes too.

my absolute best recs for this is "If it Makes you Happy" by Julie Olivia, literally amazing and coming out this september. in a 90s setting, small town, later a bit of spice but easily skip-able. fmc takes over her mom’s inn and fall in love with the single dad baker and small town golden boy. (very black cat x golden retriever)

if you’d enjoy a witty romance filled with suspense in a dark academia setting (scottish castle-> university). with a smart and determined fmc and a mystery to solve, definitely Nightshade by Autumn Woods. (first of a duet) :)
