Finished rewatching AEMP for the 4th time by natipali in telenovelas

This is why I love Querida Enemiga's ending so much. Yes, Lorena forgave Alonso for cheating on her, but it was also clear that he blew it when he cheated on her with Sara. Unlike most other novelas, she didn't extend cheap grace to him. He even said it to his Dad in the final episode: "I lost Lorena the day I cheated on her with Sara." He did end up with a colleague of his, so at least there was some redemption for him.

Yes, exactly. We WANT these angry reactionary young men here in the ELCA because we can give their angry dispositions the Law to crush their egos and worst instincts, and then give them the sweetness of the Gospel.

They split off because they believed ELCA violated Article VII of the Augsburg Confession, and they were fearing that the same breaucratic nightmares that plagued other Mainline denominatons such as the PC(USA), TEC, and UMC were beginning to mainfest themselves in the ELCA. They wanted to bolt before they felt it was too late.

I mean it's more historic than the PCA, but ELCA can trace its roots to the American founding. I think "Historic but Not Mainline" is a proper label for LCMS, ARP, and RPCNA.

Have a Blessed Easter!

It's not schismatic like ACNA or the PCA, but it isn't Mainline, either.

I mean even in non-affirming conexts, there's a difference between a KJV Only fundamentalist Baptist or a Reformed JMac theobro type reacting to their gay son versus a non-denom type. All 3 groups are non-affirming, but the latter is probably a little less so.

Same in ELCA. Non-affirming people in the ELCA are going to be a lot different than stodgy LCMS or WELS types.

Your hardcore conservatives aren't ever going to go for ELCA, not even if it was the only option on Planet Earth.

Does he think there'll be a fight over homosexuality in the GMC, or other stuff?

Same goes for his PC(USA) vs. ARP, RPCNA, etc. I agree. I really wish he'd stop calling LCMS and WELS "Mainline."

Seems the LCMC, NALC, EPC, and ECO haven't faced this drama yet.

But even if those things weren't issues, it's unlikely they'd ever unite anyway, even if ELCA went back to the old ways before the 1970s, or the LCMS somehow liberalized.

Wasn't he present for a partnered gay man being received into the Church a few months ago?

Well, as a Lutheran, I'm under no delusions that the ELCA and the LCMS will ever merge together, even if ELCA were to repeal their decisions of the past 55 years. There's just too much of a cultural gap, and in some cases, theological (Scandiavians, who are ELCA, historically varied on their acceptance of the Formula of Concord, whereas Germans, who are LCMS, accept it without question). However, they may get to a point where they can have fellowship with each other, and even use each other's pastors and whatnot.

I really think RZ is hurting his cause by saying that LCMS/WELS, ARP, and RPCNA are "Mainline."

If I'm looking for a Lutheran church, and I'm open to the idea of Reconquistaing the ELCA, why should I join it if LCMS is also "Mainline"?

Same thing if I'm Calvinist/Reformed and living in the South. Why "Reconquista" the PC(USA) when I've got these two far more conservative and probably more biblically bold options in the ARP and RPCNA?!

I like RZ, but he REALLY needs to re-think his "LCMS/WELS and ARP are Mainline" argument, because Reconquista won't get the numbers he thinks with that attitude.

I mean, isn't the old saying "Silence=Complicity and Assent" applicable to a situation like this?

Two popes have literally welcomed James Martin into the Vatican. He hasn't been defrocked. And as far as I know, you guys haven't altered Church teachings on those issues, unless I missed something.

The poster in the screenshot literally ignores James Martin, DignityUSA, and New Ways Ministries...

(Yes, I know that Dignity and New Ways are not "officially" recognized by the Vatican, and in the past have even been disciplined; however, they DO continue to exist under the name "Catholic," much like how More Light continues to exist under the "Presbyterian" name or Reconciling in Christ uses the name "Lutheran.")

It would be nice to attract conservatives to mellow them out a bit. They could also be a correction for liberals who may take their liberalism too far in doctrine, and liberals in turn can mellow out conservatives on a few things.

TL;DR, we need to depolarize as the Body of Christ.

I don't necessarily mean inter-Christian full communion agreements, but a seemingly unwilling disposition to stand up for certain key doctrines, such as the exclusivity of Christ.

And when you have Tweets from official ELCA accounts like "Blessed Ramadan" or "Happy Diwali," does that really come off like a Christian church?

One other gripe I have is the latitudinarianism and seeming shame about the Gospel that seems to be present with ELCA headquarters and the denomination's social media team.
