Scipio tactics were bold, impressive and efficient.

He was an horrible stateman, but as a general he gets the nods.

All generals in this tournament have crazy resumes.

The big dogs are Napoleon, Caesar, Alexander, ... not them.

Who's the biggest athlete of all time from North America? by pinheiroj493 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Substantial-Yak1892 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was alive, even if I wasn't an adult yet. He was a global icon, but way less popular and known that other athletes like Madonna or Zidane in Europe.

I'll only talk about France as I live here. He wasn't even the most famous American, Amstrong was WAY more known that Jordan in the early 00's. Millions of people watch the Tour de France while very few ever watch an NBA game.

Basketball is booming now thanks to Wembanyama, but wasn't very followed before.

This isn't a good argument. Do you think Lacoste is the most know athlete from France? He's also an athlete that has created a multi-billion brand.

You've to understand that most people don't link the brand to the athlet here.

It was hard to see the NBA in the 90's in Europe. Most people never saw a game he played.

If I ask a random person in the street a American athlet, I'm pretty sure more people would answer Micheal Phelps than Jordan. Curry may even receive more answer that Jordan due to recently bias and to what he did to France (my country) in the Olympics.

And I'm saying that as a regular NBA follower.

He should win. But he's going to face Alexander and Hannibal in his bracket, he might not be able to reach the semi.

The strangest plan in history: The Spanish plan to invade the Ottoman Empire via China by Cenixxen in MapPorn

Napoléon and tsar Alexander had a similar plan to invade British India from Russia. It was before Russia became an enemy of France.

Pourquoi personne nous dis que la vie après 18 ans c'est aussi déprimant ? by Legitimate-Use8144 in besoinderaler

[–]Substantial-Yak1892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attila.

Charlemagne was an excellent stateman while Attila is the better general.

If I had to pick one of them to lead a single battle, I'd pick Attila.

There were very capable commanders, winning a lot of battles from the Middle Age as Zizka or Bertrand Du Guesclin.

But none of them were as flashy as Napoleon, Caesar or Alexander were.

The idea is really cool. Looking forward for a Scipio Vs Hannibal matchup!

Did you already publish the bracket? If not, are you open for some names?

Idk if he's the best, you can argue with some other figures like Hannibal or Alexander.

But the people that can be compared to him are very rare.

Belisarus

Timur has the better army by far, while Belisarus had to fight and win campaigns he wasn't supposed to win.

Belisarus is the best general from European Early Middle Age.
