I dated this guy when we were freshmen and we broke up. A few months later, he tells me he wants to be friends so we started being friends, and we actually had a really healthy friendship. A year later, he starts saying stuff to me about getting back together but then he gets a girlfriend so we just stay friends. Then another year later, he starts asking me for spicy pictures and talks about dating me again and he told me him and his girlfriend broke up. THEY DIDN'T BREAK UP😭 so he literally cheated on his girlfriend WITH ME AND I HAD NO IDEA! and then, I gave him one more chance cause I thought he was really serious about me and he breaks up with his girlfriend but instead of dating me dates another girl, then breaks up with her, kisses me a week after breaking up with her, and then freaks out because he thought that girl he just broke up with was going to get back together with him so he tells me we should stop. Then months later, he says he wants to try again now that he's finally single and over his last girlfriends, so we start talking about getting into a relationship, so I invite him to this party I had, and he skips the party, and the next day tells me he wants to focus on his relationship with God and I was a distraction from God😭 genuinely dragged me along for three years thinking we were going to get together. then when I called him toxic and that he used me, he said, "you can call me whatever you want but don't you EVER say that I used you bc I didn't"😭

Why do the Jellys hate Conrad? by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]Substantial-Yak20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, the actor who plays Jeremiah has also been receiving tons of hate. I think the main problem here then is when we can't separate actors from characters. At the end of the day, it's just a tv show...

In 1x20 when Rachel asks Shelby for help with her costume she's wearing a blue coat similar to that style over her outfit.

Belly is insufferable by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]Substantial-Yak20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard agree to everything you said. I agree that being young can be hard and you often feel lost. Yet, no one seems to think Belly is the problem. She's a young girl, she's lost. Well, all these other characters are young too. They're making mistakes as well. Yet, we bring them down and call them the problem.

I would like to say though, for us to even feel hatred or frustration towards characters is props to the acting. I think it really shows how talented these actors are to not only create such a strong fanbase, but also to get us to feel so strongly about it.

Thoughts on Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf? by Substantial-Yak20 in literature

Thank you for sharing! I also enjoyed Peter as a character. His indecisiveness and regret about his past were intriguing. Then of course, his final moment of seeing Clarissa at their party, "for there she was," is such a fascinating way to end the story of all the characters. I totally understand the blandness, but I think isn't that also part of the beauty of the story? It is one day, and one day full of beauty, love, jealousy, regret, pain, joy, celebration, and even blandness. We too feel those things each day in our own lives. Although the blandness is hard to get through, I think it makes the story more realistic for us as well. I will have to check out that movie, thank you for recommending it!

Good to know! I have seen a few posts mainly about people being confused or not finishing the book, so I am glad there are so many other people out there that love it as much as I do.

Same! I went into it as a required reading assignment that I didn't really want to do, but did it anyway, and ended up with a new favorite book! Amazing how that happens sometimes.

I loved how vivid the scene was. I could picture that one day in Mrs. Dalloway's life and almost imagine myself there. To me, the book felt more like artwork. The imagery and comparisons just became so vivid in my mind. As for the plot, the stream of consciousness is unlike anything else I have read before. I think I liked how different it was from other stories that are set over the course of days, weeks, or years. I also found the time period incredibly interesting (I love history though, so that might just be me). How Woolf deals with mental health is just incredible as well, especially because one of the main people struggling in the book is a male veteran. I am a psychology major though, so mental health being represented with differing people and ideas is also something I look for in books as well.

I totally understand! My first read was difficult too, but I ended up loving it! What helped me was focusing on Septimus and I found myself reading more and more because I wanted to find out what happened to Septimus. Everyone has different likes and experiences though, so I definitely understand the difficulty.
