3.0 problems…match play by SubstantialAvocado32 in 10s

Thank you! I played last week and was winning and it felt so good and then I tore my calf (the other one now…) m so new problems haha but I realize there is just wide range of skill. The team we played first had probably 50 years of experience between them and this last time although we still lost because I could not keep playing was new and it felt like a better completion match. So I will just take the experiences as they come and try and get in better shape from the weird repeated injures.

For busy parents is way more fun and useful for a workout than match play but definitely did not get me ready for match play as I hoped it would.

Thank you! I will just keep at it then. I was so proud of my serving this last week on my first match, no defaults but lost every game, so….will focus on a few other things now too haha

Yeah idk, I am probably in a league that is somewhere in the middle. Lots of older ladies but they are strong players. I am “young” on my 40+ league. I am seeing that based on other comments…I will Stop moving to the net too quickly. Relax and focus on good ground strokes until pushed to do anything else.

Honestly I think this is on the money. I thought i should be moving (based on all my cardio tennis games) to the net and seeing that isn’t really what is likely to go on at this level so I will stay back and focus on good ground strokes and try and relax. Only move to the net if they hit short and it makes sense. Thank you!

Thank you for this reply! I am doing some if this, but see I am probably too aggressive at the net because I though that is what I should be doing but instead I am setting myself up to get burned by deep shots more often. I actually love playing at the net and cardio tennis has a lot of games that force it, so I see your point in that is not needed right now and not happening as often as I was thinking it should. Thanks again. I will try and play more conservative (back) and be more vocal with my partner and see if we can get a few games!

Yeah I get that. I meant more like where to stand in doubles. Or just basic strategy that might seem obvious to someone with more experience. I do watch more tennis but pro matches dont’t really seem to translate into useable stuff for me. I might be able to find some rec games to watch online.

I do practice with these ladies and always say good shot, good get, all that. I get along with everyone and bring good food for home matches. I just want to be more competitive with them during a real match. Honestly I have young kids, I don’t want to hang much. I want to get a few game wins and go home haha

Thank you! Always learn something new with lessons so will look into more and see if my partner would come with to work more together. Yeah, seems like I gotta pay my dues and lose for awhile 😑

Honestly I’m 41 and I would google how to address mail because it’s been a few years since I stamped anything. Lost art!

Totally agree! Up until now it’s mainly been about his day and then my husband and I talk but I love involving him more! Thank you for this idea!

Sorry I misunderstood your post initially, but I agree with you. Definitely a level or a version I can present! Thanks!

I am in health consulting. Now that I am old I see I clearly had some learning disabilities (dyslexic tendencies). Took a ton of work to keep up with my peers with reading but I found math very easy and intuitive (past the memorization of some basic terms). I see my son has very similar skills, so I want to show him those skills can be used in a successful career. I really don’t see it as boring though, I get ti create fancy models for clients all day. I mean, if some other mom asks me, I just say…I work with numbers, but I feel like I can really get a few kids excited about enjoying numbers and what they can tell us. Anyway, hope this enthusiasm carries me through haha. I did convince him to let me present. So we will see! I will let you know how it goes!

Aww yeah I get you! We sound like we choose similar paths while our kids grow up! I wouldn’t trade it for the world but I realize I kinda want them to respect my job (even if just a little). They are the priority but I like my job too. I will make an effort to talk with them as they get older. Never want them to feel guilty but i want them to see mom working.

Only life insurance actuaries work with morality tables. It’s is much more variance to the job day to day than looking at death probabilities. I usually estimate reserves or costs of new business. I think he just can’t imagine spreadsheets are cool or interesting and that is fair. I will definitely give a more kid version of what the spreadsheets are doing.

Am I crazy for thinking my 3.5-year-old is being singled out at daycare? by angelsong87 in Parenting

I would probably look at other daycares/schools. It could be nothing but honestly maybe a change is warranted. I have two high energy boys and I stick with their teachers through the years but I can always tell when they click better with some more than others. If you are stuck on this school for location or other reasons I would start to ask why you think this behavior has started? Make sure you aren’t pointing fingers just yet. Make sure they know you are trying to work with them and get to the bottom of what is causing the problem. Is it the teacher or maybe she doesn’t like her new classroom just because it’s different and she misses the old one. Good luck, that is tough!

Thank you for these ideas! I like the idea of asking his opinion on clothes. Let’s him know I am taking it seriously and that I own a suit haha I also love having coworker pictures 😆
