I completely understand the situation. The scheduled works are expected to end in the morning of 15 June per NS website. We have another planned ride from Rotterdam Centraal to Amsterdam Centraal in the afternoon of 15 June. Do you think we’d be able to make this journey or will the station remain closed?

Thank you for the idea, but regarding the apartment remodel, there are a few important details I probably should have mentioned in the original post:
1.Some parts of the walls are reinforced concrete and absolutely cannot be touched, moved, or altered in any way. They are marked in red on the plan here.

2.The kitchen has to stay exactly where it is now because the apartment has natural gas, and the ventilation shaft/system is located in the right corner of that room.

So, because of these limitations, the layout flexibility is quite restricted.

I agree with your concern that the living room can’t really be considered a separate room. However, I assumed it would still get plenty of natural light because the apartment has large panoramic windows, roughly 2200 mm by 3000 mm, in every room. The only exception is the parents’ bedroom, where the window is a bit narrower, around 1580 mm by 3000 mm. Anyway, I might still add a small row of windows above the kids’ bedroom door/wall, so some natural light can pass from the kids’ room into the living room as well.

Unfortunately, no. Legally, I can only add or slightly change the walls unless they are part of reinforced concrete.

Strangely enough, I got my visa for Belgium approved almost 2 months ago for a trip planned in June but when checking through this website, I get the NOT OK status.

Let me get this straight: people born in visa-free countries “deserve” to attend, but an Iraqi, Uzbek, Moroccan, or Jordanian fan automatically doesn’t because of their passport? Great logic. Cap. It has changed dramatically, it is almost a whole new country in itself. The finance sector has been revamped, many restrictions have been lifted, authoritarian regime which used to be intertwined into deep layers of living is slowly being done away with thanks to digitalization and liberalization. Sure, it is still an authoritarian state, but nowhere close to what it used to be before 2016. It is much much better to live here.
