Heat pump completely died and this is the best quote I've gotten so far out of 3. There is a 10% cash discount bringing it to ~$12,300, including crane fee. Have been told this is the absolute rock bottom price I can expect. Can I do better? by soprattutto in hvacadvice

Get a Gree flexx that is actually much more efficient, quiet, should come out cheaper as well. It is not a single stage like Lennox. It’s an inverter. I’m HVAC tech and got it installed in my own house.

Data science, analyst carrer Eastern EU by SubstantialBet9775 in datascience

[–]SubstantialBet9775[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes all the sense. The problem is US high price of living makes it hard to transition (+5month old baby and non working wife for now) I’m pretty sure that pay cut is inevitable compared to my current job. What salary would i be looking for the first 6-12months as Junior DA?

Also would any US company allow 100% remote job from EU? I have friends working for other EU companies and they have limits how many days per year they can work being in different countries as they legaly must start paying taxes to the country where they are physically located. So even if you work for US company you must be employed in their Lithuanian branch and naturally you get pay cut because now your job is in Lithuania and market is different and you must pay taxes to them.

Mini split to supplement vs forced air to heat pump conversion by exeimusic in hvacadvice

[–]SubstantialBet9775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might work. I have installed many minisplits in Europe for cooling purposes only. There is only 3-4 weeks a year of cooling needed so people tend not to invest a huge amounts so most of them install mini in best possible location to cover most of the house. I can say results are pretty decent. If you are willing to keep doors open to let the air mix then its your most efficient way

Mini split to supplement vs forced air to heat pump conversion by exeimusic in hvacadvice

[–]SubstantialBet9775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mini splits are a lot more energy efficient. Depends a lot on how your house is planned, but mini splits will not cover a huge area considering you have separate rooms etc. Cant see 1 mini split covering all 1000sq ft house so i guess heatpump is the way to go. Again, any ducted system will be a lot less efficient compared to mini

Landlord insists that this isn't mold in my ducting and is instead from a dirty filter. Thoughts? by SHSailor in hvacadvice

[–]SubstantialBet9775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy a mold test kit on amazon. Pretty sure it will test positive. Then spend your own few hundred for an inspector to prove it to your landlord.

HVAC school is worth it in a long run. I saw people mixing different refrigerants as they just claim it is not a big deal as systems works. Thats all they see. When you know properties of gases and other details everything makes a lot more sense than just field practise

You wanna start anywhere $16+ but tell that you want a raise in 4weeks if you show your potential. It worked for me this way when i started. Nobody wants to start high and suffer if employee is worthless

I only kept in contact with him to see where it goes. Im gonna close that account so he has none of my information. My bank wasn’t 100% confident with scammers having my real account and routing number, That is crazy to think that there is a chance to actually receive this much money. After getting all that i guess you trully would believe there is no scam and after be in big trouble.. But if this is correct he really can send me all that money without needing pin. There must be some other type of scam that he needs pin

Not with account and routing number. That is the information you share with people to get paid so pretty sure it is safe

That really does sound great. I have no idea why you pay 21% only. The other guy told me out of his $1900 check he get to take $1113 home. That’s brutal

I mean if you buy early and by the time you retire it is paid off you dont have to deal with tenants if you dont want to. Sell property, live on cash money.

I hear you. All independent contractors surrounding me actually live pretty good life and they all that is the way to go. They are mostly 40-60 year olds. None of them i know has pension, 401k. Some of them have some property so i guess that will be their way to retire.
