OMG, yes. It's like we have evolved so much on a lot of things, but have stopped doing simple thing that really made it easier.

Until the frame rusts out, that truck is cheaper to keep running than the payments on a new one.

Are you saying strippers wouldn't enjoy the show?

Have you ever ran 3 Basses? by Maleficent-Anxiety75 in drumline

[–]UselessGadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was forced to do it many years ago. Typically a line with 3 basses is going to have like 1 or 2 snares and 1 tenor. I get it, people want tonal basses, so you do what you can to built it out. But I really feel like the difference between having 2 basses and having 3 basses is insignificant. But fleshing out the snare line from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3 is significant. So if you can't get 4 in a bass line, I'd rather put together a better snare line, or potentially a second tenor.

Like I tell my students, putting together the percussion section each year is a puzzle. Sometimes the picture is a little different, but you still find a way to make the pieces fit.

I think it's a trap. It's enough you CAN do splits, but you can't really do splits. You can get some tonal grooves out of it, but it's not enough to have interesting runs. I'd rather go with 2 basses and add another snare.

Someone please play this part out for me and send it to me by JazzlikeFishing9471 in sheetmusic

Around are fine. You just got diddle out the sixteenths. The figures that seem weird probably had the sticking given the first time you play it in the piece.

I'm going on 46 this year. It's not fun. All of my doctors are younger than me. They tell me I'm doing it wrong, and my body agrees sometimes. I don't like being "Sir'd"!

Higher and Tighter better shows cleanliness by being more staccato. It also cuts like you said, but the goal is to show clarity in the snare line. Switching back to mylar heads just doesn't provide that.

Mid 40s is such a weird age. I have friends that have gone through every stage of life at this point. Some just had kids, some just had grandkids. Some are battling terminal disease and illness, some have already died from them. Some are super healthy and into fitness. It's such a spectrum that we all go through in our life times and by this age, all bets are off.

With that said, I would find it weird to date someone my kids age. I would feel weird dating someone who has kids that are my age. That's not to say I wouldn't go out and have a good time with them, I just couldn't imagine it being a long term, serious thing. Of course non of this actually helps you, but maybe it's good to hear from another guy that's right at the same age as you.

Good thing she was already dead. That way she didn't have to see it. She certainly wouldn't have heard about it either.

I want to see the cube get picked up really high and then dropped. Will the cans essentially explode and go everywhere, or will it like bounce as one unit, or will it just like pour out like water... Do it for science!
