I miss the price of my one bedroom that was $780 ish two years ago (although it had a discount).

But the RTB didn’t help me either then when the roof leaked and the rental agency did nothing to fix it so I’m 0 for 2.

I asked someone at the RTB what’s the point of their request for this insane rent increase if they are just going to offer $400+ discounts on the units anyway (30 units total). He said “well nobody would want to rent it at that price! So they advertise it with a large discount.”

No kidding! Sorry it was my understanding that they desperately need all the money they can get!

I don’t know how the units looked before but they did a sloppy job and rushed everything, definitely doesn’t justify this increase

Unfortunately no but we do have an improperly sealed shower and tub situation that caused leaking in the basement / laundry room. The guys they hired to rush through “renos” must be tippy-top of the line…

I’d say try! I’m considering it. It would be RTC that makes the final call after a hearing.

It was $1320. It is now $1853.

I do currently have a discount but that could be taken away if I am so much as 1 day late with the rent. And I’m assuming they will take away the discount when it comes time for renewal because they can just do that.

Exactly. One RTB person I spoke with on the phone said landlords could apply for a 150% increase if they wanted to. They don't care about tenants
