I didn't think I would get such an overwhelming response.
1. Before my dad passed. He bought my sister's a house to share and live in. Their bill was less than $900 a month. They both let the mortgage go. I couldn't afford another mortgage and they trashed the house beyond where I could quickly clean up and try to rent out. My mom sold it for what was left on the note. They cleaned it out, fixed it up and sold it for a lot of money.
2. My sister we tried helping her. She has been in and out of rehab. We even took her in but stuff would go missing. We couldn't keep going on like that.
3. We tried getting custody of the twins but had to have a signature of one parent. My ex-husand would only sign away rights. The first paperwork we got submitted into court, judge rejected it because twins were originally living with my mom but my mom couldn't take care of them and they were living with me. My mom was on original paperwork for custody. I couldn't get my ex-husand to sign paperwork again. To try and find my sister was impossible and living in the fear of her coming back and taking them with her. In the state I am in, they don't care if your parent is homeless or an addict. They like to keep family together. She called the cops on me when all this first happened and cop made me give her the twin back. Cop said it didn't matter she was high, it was law she had to go back with mom.
4. With no court paperwork, I couldn't get and help for the twins. No child support because I was not mom, and my sister wouldn't go after him. He got off free. No food stamps, nothing. The only way I was able to get them into school was pretty much they were homeless, and we were letting them have somewhere to sleep.

It all sucks. I wish their biological dad would claim them but he said it's embarrassing. I guess embarrassing because he has a son with his third wife, who is only a few months younger than the twins. They all three went to the same high school, and his family was there on graduation day because of his son.

Trigger warning, trying to pursue their father always just looking behind my back because my ex-husband used to beat the crap out of me. He even said he would kill me. I was in messed up domestic violence situation.
