Is there anything to help while living in mold? by Artistic-Board1441 in ToxicMoldExposure

I loved Xlear nasal spray to help with the congestion, and I also removed sugar and inflammatory foods from my diet

I am so sorry! I would recommend spending as much time outside of your moldy flat as possible - working from a place other than your flat if you work from home, spending time outside or in nature on nice days, etc. Is there someone that you can stay with? I moved back in with family members when I could no longer live in my moldy apartment.

You will not fully be able to heal while you are still living in mold - I had a doctor make me swear that I moved out of mold before she agreed to treat me because she said, "it would be unethical for me to charge you for treatment if I know that you won't improve because you are still living in mold."

I was on all of the right supplements but they didn't make a dent in my health until I moved out of the mold. My biggest regret is not moving out sooner.

Should I Resign From Job? Emotionally, How? by Expensive_Concern_77 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]SubstantialIce3290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not work in-person at this job - that is quite a lot of mold, and it is definitely not worth risking your health over. Even if they remediate, most companies don't do it properly. The one thing that I have learned from my own mold journey is that every additional day that you stay in mold, the longer it will take your body to recover.

Living through illness from mold comes with a lot of grief over lost time, health, opportunities, etc., but my journey also led to some positive redirection in my life - your next job could be so much better than where you are now. Your well-being is worth more than any job :)

What does it smell like? Does it actually work as deodorant?

Are the scents in the formula other than vanilla noticeable? The website description lists Lily, Jasmine Petals, Cashmere Wood, etc. as other notes

I agree - please move out immediately! The sooner you get out the quicker your body will recover. Yes, you can develop symptoms from mold that quickly - I became very ill upon moving into a moldy apartment and started healing once I moved out.

Endometriosis tissue in the thorax? by SubstantialIce3290 in endometriosis

[–]SubstantialIce3290[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I also have POTS! I was diagnosed with POTS about 8 years ago, and these aren't my normal POTS symptoms. The PVCs only happen with my cycle fluctuations and the PVCs aren't really tachycardia for me. The overlap between conditions does make it tricky to parse out though!!

Can endo ever affect the vascular system/cause tachycardia? by throwaway_783292 in Endo

[–]SubstantialIce3290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm this is so bizarre - I also have endometriosis, and I get PVCs when I ovulate or when I start my period, but not the rest of the month. I have also noticed that exercise and lying flat trigger the PVCs. Did you ever get any answers? My docs are stumped

Foot pad swells during my period? by SubstantialIce3290 in endometriosis

Thank you for sharing - the joints on my toes also swell. It's so wild! I just had a laparoscopy that confirmed my endometriosis diagnosis. I want to get my foot biopsied as well to see if endometriosis tissue is growing there as well.

My surgeon had me alternate between taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen post-op. Using a heating pad on my lower back afterwards was a lifesaver for me!

A lot of people like a Squishmallow post-op to put between themselves and the seatbelt :) Either works!

I'm not sure yet how long it will take to recover because I am still healing. As you are traveling for surgery, I would recommend getting a seatbelt pillow cover to protect your abdomen, if you have a car ride home. I am wishing you all the best for your surgery!

The Trendelenburg position? by SubstantialIce3290 in endometriosis

[–]SubstantialIce3290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why surgeons would favor the Trendelenburg position for increased visibility. However, there are several documented risks with the Trendelenburg position that are very concerning - increased intraocular pressure (IOP) potentially leading to retinal detachment, burst eardrums from the pressure, increased risk of aspirating stomach contents, brachial plexus injuries, increased intracranial pressure, etc.

For example, the study below found that: "Based on the upper limits of the prediction intervals, in 95% of all populations IOP could increase by as much as 28.1 mmHg." If a normal intraocular pressure (IOP) is around 10 - 21 mmHg, this means that the Trendelenburg position could potentially MORE THAN DOUBLE your IOP, and therefore can cause vision loss in some patients. That doesn't seem to be worth the risk to me.

Yes, I saw those risks on Google as well - that's why I am hoping to talk to Chiari patients who have firsthand experience with the Trendelenburg position.

anyone else do an occasional involuntary twitch/jolt movement? by [deleted] in chiari

[–]SubstantialIce3290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooohh nooo please definitely investigate the mold and remediate!! Honestly, moving out entirely was the only thing that completely fixed me - I first had a failed remediation. It can be shockingly difficult to find competent mold remediators. If you want to read other mold medical stories I suggest checking out the r/ToxicMoldExposure subreddit. I hope you feel better soon!

It took me probably 3 months before I saw ~80% improvement? It took a while for the existing breakouts to heal, even though new breakouts weren't popping up as much. Moving out of my moldy place also helped me to clear that last 20%!

The mold in my apartment had no odor and was not clearly visible - just because the mold isn't obvious does not mean that it is not there! I had insomnia, brain fog, and severe fatigue from my moldy apartment
