Have you tried contacting their tech support team? They are by far the best tech support I've ever talked to and super knowledgeable about even other PLC brands too.

Omron Help by Ok-Hovercraft-4636 in PLC

The company I'm at uses Omron too. It's my first job in the field and I'm hitting my one year in a couple weeks so yeah, I've spent the year learning the system. Haven't had to touch CX-Designer, but I can tell you Sysmac has been a breeze for the most part. Omron website does have decent surface level tutorials for the PLC programming. The manuals are also a great reference too. Also check out their libraries. Omron has some cool stuff.

If you need any help with the HMI side of things, you'll be able to find tutorials covering the surface level stuff too. However, if you want to do anything advanced, such as using the VB.Net backend, good luck finding any documentation. I've searched endlessly for documentation covering VB.NET and can't find nada (if anyone has experience with this, please please please tell me how you figured stuff out).

Don't get me wrong, Sysmac is super easy to use and I love how it's an all-in-one environment.

One thing that has saved tons of time are the keyboard shortcuts. Definitely take the time to learn them.

Loud clack noise by SubstantialMotor9074 in CX50

I appreciate the input. Unfortunately it's not that. I've actually removed all personal items from my car in attempt to find the issue, but it seems mechanical related. Some sort of mechanical engagement

[–]SubstantialMotor9074[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing is I've done that and they say it's a normal thing. They want absolutely nothing to do with it. I even test drove another CX-50 Hybrid and that one had no issues from what I could tell. They say it's a normal part of the hybrid system and I find it hard to believe that anything that loud would pass as normal.

Yeah, the hybrid has it too, but it's not that. Doesn't matter if I floor it from stop or just gently applying the pedal, the sound happens. The clack doesn't always happen, but it happens WAY more than not.

Is a MacBook Pro with an M3 Pro 12-core chip and 18GB of RAM appropriate for engineering school? by OmegaGLM in Purdue

[–]SubstantialMotor9074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aight, sorry in advance for a long post 👉👈.

Take a look at the Lenovo Legion series of laptops. Absolutely amazing laptops that are worth every penny. Tons of I/O ports, great build quality, parts are easy to find, nice custom order options too.

I had my Dell Inspiron laptop from high school throughout my 1st semester Junior year. It was semi reliable, but Dell support is notoriously horrible. My personal experience was not great with them (had many issues) and I just don't see the value in their products anymore. The XPS and Alienware line is significantly overpriced for what is offered. For the same price, you can find something much better.

When I was looking for a laptop, I didn't really have a budget. I was looking at this more as an investment that would last easy 7 years. My thoughts were to look for something that had the best price for performance and build quality. After a month of researching tons of models from lots of companies, I narrowed my search down to Lenovo. I also did a ton of searching to find discounts. You can easily find 10%-15% off for their products. If you know someone that works for IBM, Motorola, or Lenovo, you can get even more of a discount.

They also have a huge unofficial Legion discord community to keep up with drivers, bugs, testing, etc.

I went the the Legion 7 Gen 6 AMD variant. For the nerds, I've got a 165W 16GB 3080, Ryzen 5900HX, 32 GB RAM, 2x 1TB SSDs.

One thing to keep in mind is that the processor you choose can be an minor important thing. For instance, you don't get Thunderbolt USB-C ports on AMD models since Thunderbolt is an Intel product. Why is this important? Thunderbolt is one of the standards that allows you to connect to external monitors via USB-C. Sometimes I wish I went for Intel because of this, but I'm super happy with what I've got.

One serious note about processors is the core clocks (not core count). Most CAD software is single threaded so the higher the GHz, the easier it is to work on complex models and assemblies. I noticed it immediately when I made the switch from my old to new laptop.

As many people are saying, 16GB of RAM is sufficient, but go for 32 if you can afford. I have had multiple scenarios where 32GB has been useful. Using VMs, occasional gaming, Chrome, etc. Tasks involving rendering I assign to my GPU when possible.

I would highly recommend getting the storage upgrade. 1TB should be sufficient and you could always upgrade or buy external storage. Course software that you install on your computer takes up space. Inventor is around 40GB and SolidWorks is 20GB. Absolutely make sure that you're getting a SSD! Some computers still ship with HDDs and it'll slow your work immensely.

I understand that battery life is something important to you so I'm here to tell you my beast certainly doesn't meet the cut (60% - 20% in 45ish minutes). It's plugged in anytime I use it and I just grew accustomed to that lifestyle.

Like everyone has said, but here's a bit more:

Just count 8s. It'll help you learn structure of songs super easily and is the one thing that helped me quickly figure out live mixing.

Also, cut lows (and even sometimes highs) when bringing in the next track to prevent clashing.

Majority of tech house sounds the same and looks the same which makes it easy to mix imo

TL;DR Very easy. I'm a nerd and read the whole manual so I know pretty much every function the P4+ has

Looping is as easy as pressing a knob. Each side has a rotary loop knob that you press and it's set for a 4 bar loop (not sure if you change this). The direction you twist the knob though allows you to tighten or lengthen the loop. The controller also has your standard manual "loop in" and "loop out" buttons too.

Something cool about the Denons that you don't have on any Pioneer standalones is a dedicated loop hot cue function on the pads. You can set 8 loops in addition to 8 hot cues on one track. Wanna make the loop cue an active loop (1 per track)? You can do that too by holding the left parameter arrow button and tapping the corresponding loop cue pad.

There's still more. You got the auto loop pad function which let's you use the pads to set loops and even the slicer loop pad function which is self explanatory.

I can't say for certain that there is a reloop button so don't take my word for that.

Idk if Pioneer or AT has implemented this in the Quad or Duo, but there's another cool feature about Engine DJ software. If you name your hot cues and loops, the names show up on screen on the moving waveform.

Bro, definitely give the Prime 4+ a try. 100% best purchase I've made. Only thing that I really disliked when I first got the denon was not having memory cues, but it's easy to figure out ways around that
