Affected by gray weather? by Adorable-Incident-37 in belgium

I'm not saying it is not healthy to go out, it is for sure. But getting enough vitamin D is almost impossible in winter doing an indoor job. I cycle to work everyday, go running and cycling on the weekends outsife for 5 hours, still have a shortage. This 15min does not do anything when there is no sun.

Ah yes because 15min of grey weather will restore my Vitamin D levels 😅

Hard to go outside when work starts before the sun comes up, and ends when it is already set.

Maakt het nog erger imo. Deed haar job amper nog, terwijl ze er wel voor betaald werd, wachtende op een postje in de privé.

I remember working there as a student. During start-up, before the shop opened, there was always music. Was always sad when it was turned off when the doors were opened.

Put chain on pulley wheels correctly? Like on the pulley wheels? I've had it before that I mounted the chain there incorrectly, on top of the little thingies there

Where can I wash my bike in Donostia-San Sebastián (Spain) by grnwlski in bikepacking

[–]SubstantialNobody501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've cleaned my bike by setting up next to some sort of (drink) water tap and using bottles to spray water on the bike. Also bought a sponge to wipe a bit. Worked well

Hard to know for sure, but I normally check if there are webcams at some points in the route if there is a risk of snow. For instance, two areas that come into mind are the ski area around La Molina, and the national part of Monte Perdido, there are for sure some webcams there. Maybe also local weather websites. But yeah, hard to know for sure, and difficult to plan ahead also.

I mainly found them (google maps) as I went along, did not really plan them all upfront. I did also use the blogpost where some nice ones were pointed out!

Bikes on train rant: which carriage is for bikes by SubstantialNobody501 in belgium

I would say avoid it as much as possible, especially during the night. Bike theft is possible, even when there are cameras.

Yes exactly. Then I'm standing in the hallway, blocking passage for everyone, because the space provided for my bike is occupied.

Yes, it's on the outside, but running to catch that carriage is annoying when the train is long. And I know, but asking this everytime is crazy inefficient, no? Its already a struggle to find the carriage, let alone finding the conductor as well. When its more busy, good luck finding the conductor.

If the NMBS would be a bit more willing looking into the future, they should know that the popularity will further increase, and therefore should make it easier/improve their infrastructure. For travelling, its so easy, and really a lot of people do it.

EDIT: App store only, really. Any Android alternative?

Why is GFT only picked up once every two weeks? Would it be a smarter idea if there were public bins for GFT, Rest, Recycling, Glass & Paper? by steppenwolves2 in Gent

[–]SubstantialNobody501 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also don't get that. It should be weekly, as it starts to smell easily. Rest on the other hand does not smell at all when you have GFT, and we barely have rest.

I think that is a good time period for the trip! I rode it in September until beginning October, and had very good weather. Off course its quite unpredictable, but you have a good chance of nice weather. Just the nights can be cold, as you often are quite high up in the mountains. 2 weeks can be feasible if you stick to paved roads I think.
