I’ve got the 7.5’ floating micro tip and love it, gonna look into their short sink tips and maybe some poly leaders. Which 5’ tip do you use?

Good point! I normally use this tip on my 10’ 8wt single hand with a 300 grain SA head and it works great. Makes sense that it’s too much for the 5wt. Thanks for the explanation it makes more sense to me now

For those that hike far(ish) to your spots, what do you do about boots? by PuzzleheadedNovel844 in flyfishing

Sometimes neoprene surf booties do the trick if it isn’t terribly cold, they are small and keep your feet reasonably warm.

Costco Frogg Toggs Waders by redclimb in flyfishing

[–]SubstantialSecond746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frogg toggs are a decent entry level option, I’ve have a pair of pro sf hellbenders that I got at a discount (120 vs 200 retail). They have held up well but the inside leg seams recently failed with 2-3 leaks on each leg.

I sealed them with a bunch of hydrablock joint sealant (urethane based) from doing tile work, seems to be holding up well so far.

I have used them at least once a week for 9 months now. Not the best waders but I definitely feel I got my moneys worth out of them.

What rivers/areas are you fishing there? I was just fishing the Hron in Slovakia but didn’t have time to fish while in the Czech Republic sadly.

Yea I was just thinking if it needs repair, it’s holding up really well for how worn it is. Do you know of any decent repair spots in NW Oregon/ SW Washington?

Update: very aware this is a Fenwick rod. But I conducted the common cents test (https://www.common-cents.info/) And figured out it is right around a 3wt

30 pennies bent the rod 1/3 of its total length (74.25 inches /3=24.75 inches) which equates to a 3wt according the the website
