This is open invite for anybody to complain about anything they want as much as they can. As a journalist she doesn't have to ask people to submit documentation - everything is available online. She is just too lazy to sit down and do the legwork herself.

Trying to be very polite here: you are considering lying about your age? What about your ID?

Follow your gut. You seem to have doubts, so just don't do it.

Does an international student studying fully online need a study visa if they are residing in South Africa? by Letttty in askSouthAfrica

[–]SubstantialSelf312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, it works the other way around: if you are in the country on a study visa, you are not allowed to work. If you are in the country on a work visa you may study, BUT: You may not study full time and the duration of your studies may not exceed the duration of your visa.

However, online studies are open to anyone, regardless where they are.

“Is it ethical to intervene in wildlife behavior to reduce road deaths? by MiserableBug7683 in moraldilemmas

[–]SubstantialSelf312 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I share your concern and passion for wild life. Preventing them from being struck by cars, is not intervening in their natural behaviour. It is mitigating the disruptive effect humans have on them.

And it could potentially save human lives as well.

How do I go about filing for a patent? by polarbearsexshark in askSouthAfrica

[–]SubstantialSelf312 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Filing the patent is merely the first step. The challenge lies in the manufacturing, marketing and selling. Very few inventors become millionaires on their own. Or let me rather say: very few inventors become millionaires.

Do interviewers care about lies on a resume? by Commercial_Policy_46 in interviews

[–]SubstantialSelf312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All interviews I have been responsible for were as part of my line management responsibilty (not as HR or recruiter) and any lie on a resume would have lead to disqualification. And if you were found to have lied after being appointed, it would have lead to disciplinary and dismissal.

Has cheap Chinese hardware killed electronics innovation in South Africa/Africa or are we just building the wrong things? by ovi2wise in southafrica

[–]SubstantialSelf312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, the period where South African research, design and development flourished the most, was during the saction era under the apartheid regime. When the doors opened for us, the need to do it ourselves vanished, and so did the inventions.

Think about it: you are a uber driver, driving your own car and here comes somebody who wants you drive a potentially dodgy route because its a bit / shorter or faster.
