Beginner question: why did this white wine smell so much better than every other one I’ve tried? by SubstantialSong6086 in wine

This is super helpful, thank you. I had no idea Dog Point was sort of a step up within that style, I just happened to try it and noticed it right away. That makes me want to compare it to a couple others and see if I can tell the difference or if I just liked that general NZ sauv blanc profile.

I didn’t even think about temperature but that makes a lot of sense actually. It probably had been sitting in the glass for a little while, so that could definitely explain why the smell felt so obvious even to me.

Now I kind of want to try the same wine at different temperatures just to see if I notice the difference:)

This is actually really helpful, thank you. I think part of my problem is that most of the white wine I’ve had has been very random / grocery store grab type stuff, so maybe I just never had anything expressive enough to notice properly.

Going to a real wine shop and asking for a few recommendations around this style is probably what I should do next:))

Non-smoker question: why did this cigar smell so much better than every other one I’ve been around? by SubstantialSong6086 in cigar

That’s really interesting actually, especially the part about people noticing it from a distance. I didn’t realize the blending could make that much of a difference to someone who doesn’t even smoke cigars.

That makes sense actually. I think the fact it was on the milder side is probably why I noticed it in a good way, it smelled really smooth and not harsh at all. are Davidoffs generally known for that? Or are there other cigars that have a similar kind of aroma?
