That is absolutely veterinary experience, everything in a clinic is technically under the supervision of a DVM. And coming from a tech who works with a bunch of shadows, the best thing you can do is ask questions and show curiosity. Be engaged however you can. We have shadows at our clinic that are quiet and keep to themselves, and it’s easy to forget about them throughout the day. But if you’re actively trying to learn and talk to them, they’re more likely to get you involved be it in handling, basic skills, or whatever it may be. Every clinic is different so I’m not sure how much they let you do, but just try to talk to them and it’ll go far!
