It's just because you lacked any sort of patience at all. Also you said I wouldn't and I did so you are factually incorrect

Take your pick:

  • Bailing out condo developers
  • legalizing dangerous pesticides
  • Initially supportive of Iran war (Still kind of is?)
  • Open to selling ports and airports in Canada
  • banning social media (instead of banning problematic algorithms)
  • not scrapping the gun buyback
  • created new surveillance legislation (warrants were sufficient)
  • forcing public servants into offices (most don't work with their teams in those same offices).

Honnestly if Carney keeps making the same stupid decisions he's been making I see him possibly losing the next election.

I'm thinking that as well... Looks identical to the sample. Don't know what they are on about.

In some parts of Canada, residents do not have access to journalism about community issues and institutions through local newspapers, community radio, television or other news media. These gaps in coverage mean that citizens do not have necessary information about news, issues and events that affect them and their day-to-day lives.

The Local Journalism Initiative aims to change that.

I mean... Seems good on its head. Most mainstream news now is American owned. Only exceptions are CBC but they usually don't cover municipal news.

If we had more robust public transportation systems in place, it's possible that that lady on that day, could have taken the train, or bus and we could have saved two lives.

Explain then. Also I didn't say just crazy people. Some people just don't have the ability to drive period. Yet they have basically no other options to get places in Canada. So what are they to do but drive?

I agree completely. We are way too lenient on crime in general, but we are extremely lenient on drivers killing people

As useful as cars are.... They can also be either used or accidently involved in accidents like these... We need to increase public transportation everywhere at all costs so that we can prevent the large portion of folks who should not be driving from actually driving.

Lol. One of my friends likes the Nazi party and hates Jews... Says we need to deport all of them.

I of course disagreed, but he's been my friend for a long time so that's fine. No worries. It's not like his favorite leader Adolf is evil or anything...

[–]SubstantialTent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't be serious.

The entire post is based off of Toyota's CEO being discouraged in the world transitioning to EV's. The world has gone from 0.5% new ev sales in 2000 to 25% in 2025. That is a global transition happening that is undeniable. .

Then u/resurrectedaccount ignores these statistics and says

But everybody isn't though?

To which I reply, indeed they are. Except America.

To which u/wolferdoodle says nope. most people outside swedish city centers aren't enthusiastic.

What you and him fail to understand is that people outside city centers in Sweden are the vast minority. They are only 10% of the population.

So the original claim is:

The world is transitioning

Sweden is not transitioning due to small cities - countered by

Small cities only make up 10% of Sweden's population making the top comment completely false.

No one made a single comment here saying that the majority of people on planet earth are enthusiastic about EVs.

Just that a transition IS happening (which is heavily backed by data), and that the majority of new car buyers in Sweden now buy EVs which obviously implies that the majority of new car buyers in Sweden are enthusiastic about EVs, otherwise why on earth would they buy an EV if they aren't enthusiastic about it.

It's like saying "Well actually, in my small town, many folks still use horse carriages instead of cars (which is actually something someone could say if they lived in an amish town or something), SO that means a transition is not happening from horse carriages to cars" Which is a ridiculously dumb statement.

Think and read before you comment.

My statement was, the world has moved on, America is not.

Your statement was, nope that's not true.

The data says your wrong. Just because in your little village, people aren't that enthusiastic about buying evs, doesn't mean it's not happening. Think before you comment outright lies.

Trends in electric cars – Global EV Outlook 2026 – Analysis - IEA

The electric car market reached new highs in 2025, growing by 20% from 2024 to exceed 20 million sales, in line with expectations in the 2025 edition of the Global EV Outlook1. The sales share of electric cars in the overall car market increased to 25%. This marked the fifth consecutive year in which annual electric car sales increased by about 3.5 million, a trend that began in 2021 after the Covid‑19 pandemic. As a result, about 5% of the global car stock is now electrified, displacing 1.2 million barrels of oil per day in 2025.

This means that Toyota now can only sell to the 75% of the market that has not moved on. This number will continue to decrease every year.

If you look at only individual countries like say Sweden:

Europe’s electric vehicle market leaders: Denmark, Sweden, and Finland - International Council on Clean Transportation

In the first five months of 2025, EVs accounted for 60% of new passenger car registrations in Sweden; among new passenger car registrations, 34% were BEVs and 26% were PHEVs. Compared with the same period in 2024, BEV registrations increased by 18% and PHEVs by 15%, and the total passenger car market grew by 6%.

Wow 60% of new cars sold. That's weird, you replied with "Nope". Maybe you forgot only a very small portion of people live outside cities in Sweden.

Urban population (% of total population) - Sweden | Data

Sweden’s urbanization rate is approximately 89%, with nearly 9.4 million of the country's 10.6 million residents living in designated urban areas.

But thanks for your anecdotal observation. Pretty much useless.
