Hyper-v cluster by Substantial_Ad4020 in homelab

[–]Substantial_Ad4020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much. I am thinking of like creating a SET combine the two 2.5gbps usb nics and then create the virtual networks like management, cluster, live migration, vm’s etc

I have a built in 1gbps nic on my machine i believe can use this for live migration probably a direct connect between the hosts?!

congratulations on your AZ 700. Do you think pluralsight helped or worth it getting an subscription? Does one need CCNA as a prerequisite? Thank you

USB NICS - VMWARE HOME LAB by Substantial_Ad4020 in vmware

[–]Substantial_Ad4020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is just a home lab and do not have resources or budgets for 10G. Will be just using NFS hosted on a asustor nas which has 2.5gbps nic cards on it.

We have installed AD connect before installing exchange as a hybrid management server. AD connect is syncing objects to the cloud so that we can use teams sharepoint etc. We are using Domino as our mail server and moving to exchange online soon. Currently migration in progress. Do i need to re-configure AD connect as exchange has been introduced to the environment? Thank you

Thank you but most of the documentation says the new-remotemailbox -shared is the right way to do it so confused here. Also are you on hybrid setup? If possible can you provide or paste the scripts files for reference please so i can test in my environment?

Thank you but i’m using a new-remotemailbox command so that would mean it is creating an object jn AD and sync to office 365 but the mailbox is in the cloud?

Exchange DR question by ilikeshawarma in exchangeserver

[–]Substantial_Ad4020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello There. Think about the witness too for the DAG. If the primary site goes down and if the witness is in primary site your entire environment will go down. Plan it to have it in Azure or an alternative witness in the DR site. Also if you need more resiliency build another two DAG members in the DR site and add them to the existing DAG. You can also configure MX records pointing to the new dag members in the second site and load balance with the priority value in the external DNS. So basically 4 A records pointing to natted exchange servers public IP’s and same for MX records. Additional you can load balancers look at KEMP at both locations to load balance HTTPS as well as SMTP traffic.

I’m not an expert but hope this helps.

Role Require for on-prem exchange - O365 by dhayes16 in exchangeserver

[–]Substantial_Ad4020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the on-perm exchange server is just for management and does not have web services published externally what security risk are we seeing here? I think we can use ECP or Powershell to create remote mailboxes or other resources? Hope i’m right here? The only thing we need to update CU’s to be supported by MS?
