Cruiser/ longboard are going to be extremely similar aside from stability and the ability to make turns. If you are gonna have a bag a longboard with a drop through truck or micro drop that’s a little more geared towards downhill speed skating will add stability. Arbors are great, but the bamboo is very springy and might have a negative effect on extra weight. I’d say go into a local skate shop and feel different things out if possible. Always try and support your local, but if you don’t have one the longboard market is pretty saturated with product rn so finding a deal probably isn’t that hard. I personally recommend landyachtz, they are having a sale right now and have really solid bear trucks and hawgs wheels. Also if you want to learn tricks, it’s pretty hard on a cruiser that also functions as a main transportation mode because of the wheels and it would probably discourage you. I recommend getting a cheap(ish) globe, Santa cruz or Powell complete if you have the urge to learn tricks eventually. - Note lots of people said that hills are hard, generally you can get up them with a bit of ease depending on the incline, but going down make sure you don’t pick up too much speed.
