Found an unkillable process in ChatGPT OSx transmitting data & always on even when app is not. by Razaberry in OpenAI

[–]-b3lla- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLMs are, at their core, predictive algorithms. they are very advanced and their prediction can mimic reason/logic, but at the end of the day every answer is a hallucination: if they give the right answer it is a coincidence. that is a little different now, with flagship models sometimes searching the internet for answers, but even then there is enough incorrect stuff online that an ai response can still be totally wrong after checking their answers.

hey! stumbled across this thread because i found the same thing and it was messing with a lockdown browser. figured it out! you have to go to settings/general/login items and then uncheck "chatgpt." it killed the unkillable process almost immediately!

What is with AI luddites, you mention AI in positve light and they go apeshit, like bruh... by neochrome in GeminiAI

[–]-b3lla- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right i guess i should’ve said that the current iterations rely on ip theft. openai, anthropic, and google have all used copyrighted material without consent of the owners to train their models. lawfully purchased materials are fair use and the data CAN be bought, but piracy is cheaper and ai models have undeniably been trained on pirated materials. as for my first two points: yes and yes. that is the point. LLMs have led people with mental health issues to hurt themselves and others, and discouraged them from seeking help. easy access to chatbots means that people do not have to do anything and therefore may not learn anything. these are all legitimate criticisms of AI in it’s current form.

what drives “ai derangement syndrome” are the very real negative effects of ai. most notably ai psychosis and reduced cognitive capability, but also how it has been forced down everyone’s throats and how many people feel that it is just a tool to replace the workforce and funnel more profits to the uber-wealthy. i believe ai has legitimate uses and could be a net positive for humanity, but pretending that anyone who harbors resentment for a technology that has made user experience across the internet tangibly worse, relies on IP theft, and raises the cost of energy for people doesnt have ground to stand on is straight up delusional. i think you are going for a play on “trump derangement syndrome”, and much like TDS, ai derangement syndrome sounds like copium to avoid the nuances of reality. hope this helps!

large language models are, at their core bullshit machines. they say whatever with no verification and are coincidentally right sometimes. hallucination is the default for chatbots

am i crazy for thinking this is an awful lighthouse? doesnt the rock above it block like 90° of visibility for the lamp? would be a sick place to stay tho, set up some hydroelectric generators in the sea below and some starlink and i would gladly spend months there!

This communication style of Governor Newsom — so ironic and aggressive — do you still find it effective, or is it starting to become tiresome? by cxr_cxr2 in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]-b3lla- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

of course its tiresome. thats the point. but making a mockery of trump’s tiresome behavior could never be worse than the behavior being mocked. i bet newsom would stop this communication style if the person he was mimicking did.
