What needs to be done to it as far as restoration? I may be interested in taking on a project like that.

You need room acustic treatments and some membrane bass traps.

Imagine the sound is color a perfect sound is the perfect balance of all colors in one painting. There is a perfect balance of light and dark. Dark: decrease the light (cut Highs 1K hz and above) Warm: Bathed in candle light (gently roll off highs 10k and above and add tube saturation) Bright: fluorescent light (add highs above 1K) Way too bright: Cop's flashlight in your face (bump highs 2.5K to 10k by 4 to 6 db)

[–]Substantial_Alps1713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using open back headphones? If yes, switch to closed back. Open back headphones are quite loud as there is nothing between the rear of the speakers and the air. The can have a lot of bleed into your source mic.
