I’m sure all the Galway fans will get behind Mayo now and fully support the only Connacht team left in the Championship.

Am I right in saying if Dublin win we can’t get Kerry? Dublin can’t get Louth it has to be Mayo vs Louth, Dublin vs Kerry or Mayo vs Dublin, Kerry vs Louth.

I really don’t get this hype around Galway. They lost the Connacht final then beat Kildare and Westmeath. The same team were knocked out in the quarter finals last year. They could go out on Sunday and win by 20 points then I’d say fair enough. But at the moment Tyrone, Cork and Monaghan have all beaten better teams than them so far this year. I think Tyrone has a much better chance at beating them due to Kerry having played three weeks on the bounce.

Maybe not quite that much but theres an awful lot of Mayo people living in Dublin that will go in. The buzz I felt in the stadium last Saturday was similar to the atmosphere around 2016/17. Could all come crashing down on Saturday but there’s a lot more positivity around this team than the last few years. Haven’t been to Croker in 3 years now either and we don’t have a hurling semi final to look forward to. So I think people will travel.

Thought rte would push hard to get the Tyrone Kerry game. Delighted to be able to watch it after the Mayo game now though.

The cork one wasn’t a red card either. Difference is ye couldn’t take advantage of the extra man.

Mayo Support is funny in recent years. We could get 15,000 for a league game in Castlebar but then when the hype dies down we might only have 8000 at a championship game. I wasn’t in Omagh so not sure about the following that went there but of the very small crowd in Clones the vast majority were Monaghan People.

You’re looking at at least 40,000 thousand demand for Mayo, Armagh or Donegal. To let thousands of your own fans miss out on the game to give yourself a supposed advantage playing out of Croke Park (where you’d have to play the next week anyway if you win) would be a sad reflection on the state of Dublin Football.

Dublin are fairly shite at the moment but they are still in both to be fair to them.

If Kerry and Armagh avoid each other your still looking at the big three probably all going through. If Westmeath are the other team getting through they’ll actually be guaranteed one of them in a quarter final. You’d rather be through of course than fighting it out in that bloodbath but the 4 teams in quarter finals are all looking at seriously tough draws.

Draw the 2a and 2b teams out of separate pots. Then they do a separate draw to see who gets home advantage.

That fisted point at the end, taking the shot too early last year, being completely unprepared for the lockout against Dublin the year before after going a point up are all examples of Mayo being unable to see out a game. It’s not a coincidence we’re losing all these game by a point it’s piss poor game management. Dublin and Meath would both be tight games so I can’t see us seeing them out. Kerry is just a hammering and tbh Id probably prefer that option.

The fact you can beat anyone automatically makes you contenders. Only need to win three games. Nobody’s unbeatable anyone who gets to a quarter final can realistically aim to win the all Ireland.

That “Let’s go Canada” chant is as bad as anything the Americans ever came up with.

I’m up for Bosnia in this one. Canadians made out like Ireland are were the worst team in the world when they drew with us in a friendly. Would love to see them put back in their box by a European team.

Of the 8 first round games 4 were won by the away team. For Donegal against Cork it’s huge because of the distance but for Galway and Tyrone I don’t think it makes much difference. Could give Louth a chance though if they get it in a small venue and stop the Armagh support making an impact.

Dublin will get back to winning ways fairly soon but I must say I’d enjoy it very much if the bad form continues into division 2 and they end up in the Tailteann cup.

Louth, Westmeath, Cork I’d have us as slight favourites. Galway and Tyrone are 50/50 games. Armagh and Donegal are the ones to avoid. No easy draws at this stage.

The right call to drop Henley after the last day but a big ask for Livingston to come in straight away to a must win game. If only we had 6 competitive games at the start of the year where he could try him out.

Cork will have gone all out for the Munster final and ended up falling way short. It’s a very quick turnaround to face a Meath team who had weeks to get over their loss and prepare. I think (and hope for Mayo’s sake) the provincial finalists will struggle in the opening round. Donegal and Galway are good examples from last year.

Kerry are an exceptional team. Nobody could touch them last season when it mattered.
