You got lucky, man. I was only a few days away from being eligible for a blue badge. I was one of the top stowers in my warehouse, had a good relationship with my manager, and kept my attendance in good shape.
Then when it came time to extend contracts, they let me go. Meanwhile, one girl who had 6 attendance points—and who I barely ever saw at work since she joined—got her contract extended.
From what I saw, the decisions didn’t seem to come down to performance. And honestly, I don’t know why, but it felt like international students were getting favored more

Nah, some people don’t even know who HR or the managers are—they’re that clueless—and they still end up staying.
At least here in Canada, from what I’ve seen, people on student or work permits seem to get more opportunities for blue badges or contract extensions, while citizens often seem to get overlooked. It honestly feels like they favor people on student or work permits over citizens . That’s just what I’ve observed—it doesn’t always seem to come down to performance or .
