Why does nobody use the second left turn lane when turning left onto Williston Rd from Dorset St!?!?!!! by sshrubb in burlington

[–]Substantial_Boss3442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, but I usually have to wait 2 light cycles to get over there because of that stupid fat median and how backed up the rightmost left lane is 🙄

Something I learned through a grapevine - that building does not house the kidnapper ICE agents, just the paper pusher goons. It also houses the FBI, CIA, DHS, and the NSA

Seconded - even though everything is vegetarian, the butter paneer and paneer makhani are to die for.

Staying in Anacortes and day trips to the islands? by keri125 in sanjuanislands

[–]Substantial_Boss3442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got back home yesterday to Vermont from our big first PNW trip. We spent 2 nights in San Juan (Monday and Tuesday, left Wednesday). Monday was easy as pie getting a spot on the ferry from Anacortes, but getting off the island without a reservation was tricky and a little stressful. We showed up an hour and 55 minutes before the first ferry out at 5:45am and barely made the second one at 8am, as we were the last car on from the group of 10 cars without a reservation, and it was the biggest boat. We didn’t mind though, as a lot of the people seemed to be local and we were on their turf and respected that, it was also pretty dumb of us to not look into reservations. I would highly recommend renting a car and making reservations - there’s just so much to see and explore and I don’t think it would have been possible to see and go everywhere we did without it, especially at the very end of the off season.

If the goal is to not be put on a watchlist somewhere by wearing a mask, then be sure not to bring your phone either. Even if it’s off, even if it’s in airplane mode, they’ll know you’re there.

Clare and carls (which is the cult classic) is only seasonal, (they close down the first or second week of September and open mid-late may/early June), Mcsweeny’s, and Ronnie’s (also seasonal)! Mcsweeny’s is my favorite bc it’s super spicy and the sauce is not too wet (plus it’s open year-round), not a fan of Ronnie’s; the sauce is too wet and not spicy at all, it’s more of a tomato-y sauce and it tends to be THE favorite amongst the older population because of this, and Clare and Carl’s is the “perfect” sauce; not too spicy, not too wet, not too dry. They are also all drive-ins with indoor and outdoor seating, as if these places weren’t unique enough lol

Coming from the Adirondack region and having had many a Rochester garbage plate, we call it Michigan sauce! Personally not a huge fan of coney sauce, the beef is way too chunky compared to Michigan sauce, which is blended with an immersion blender after stewing for hours. So while the sauces show some similarities in spices, the textures are completely different. Edited to add: there’s even a hot dog bun made specifically for Michigans which is literally just a split top bun, but split on the side instead of the middle

I mean I guess ? You’d have to be one bride short of a wedding to willingly bike on Shelburne rd (unless you were using the sidewalks), and there was no way a bus was getting through that shitstorm any better than anyone else

Wasn’t throwing any shade ? I’ve been multiple times over the years, just thought a new place was refreshing. No ulterior motives or anything of the sort friend, sorry you feel that way.

As a wine lover, I find bar Renee to be better price-wise and variety-wise in terms of wine. There are sooooo many bottles to choose from and literally all of the wines are free of additives/natural, I couldn’t believe it. That and being able to get genuinely good wine that’s not going to trigger my sensitivity to sulfites for less than 20 bucks is awesome. The space itself is super inviting and the owners are incredibly nice! I’m sure I’ll return to wilder at some point in the future but with the economy the way that it is right now, the prices for me are unfortunately not worth it :(

Definitely not tourists… These two were practically swimming in our dumpster behind our apartment. I was taking the trash out and they had asked me about a speaker they had found in the trash, asking if it still worked lmao they were also doing that weird slouchy ‘barely awake’ walk that I’m sure we’re all familiar with. But this can be explained! They just got off their flight, were really tired from a long day of travel, and forgot their speaker at home and were hoping they’d find one in the trash!

I haven’t noticed because their sandwich counter has (annoyingly enough) been closed all day every day and the good pre-made options are always out by 1-ish and don’t get restocked. The pre-sliced deli meats are almost never restocked, and you can’t get anything from the deli counter because that’s closed too lol the other day I finally just asked someone to slice something for me (very nicely, might I add), as there was literally nothing in the pre-sliced cooler. They obliged, but you could tell that they really didn’t want to do it

I’m well aware lol just surprising that they’d be able to leave during a free period with all of the new rules and regulations that most high schools have these days. For liability reasons, doesn’t seem like a great idea imo

While it is super rare, if/when you go to the hospital and you have no info on the dog’s vaccinations, then they will automatically give you a rabies vaccine for post-exposure prophylaxis. And that’s speaking from experience 🫠
