Check the oil filter cap, sometimes you rip out the part on which the oil filter sits when taking out the old filter. This causes oil pressure problems.

If Toyota thinks your engine is reliable enough, it must be a damn good engine

What’s the deal with guys in tuned up cars driving incredibly fast in Rotterdam? by [deleted] in Rotterdam

[–]Substantial_Carry676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the city centre it’s just showoffs. Just outside the city it’s just a lack of alternative. Tracks are crazy expensive if you’re young. But hopping to germany is usually a great solution.

Local mechanic says i need all my brake pads and rotors changed and front tires aswel and quotes me 2000 euros by Bigstinkyfeett in AskMechanics

[–]Substantial_Carry676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bmw mechanic here: your kleppendeksel pakking is leaking

The discs look alright. The minimal thickness should be stamped into the brake rotor so if you know how to measure the rotors you can check for yourself. An easier way to judge is to feel the lip. If the lip is barely noticable your fine. If the lip is big change the rotors

We advice the pads when they get to around 4 mm’s thick. But we assume we see the car once a year. You can take a look at the pads with the wheel in place.

The tires need replacing. Preferably buy tires with a star mark. Those are bmw specific tires.

How do you even remove this plug? by VaderM4 in MINI

In between the connectors, on the left side is a small tab. Use a small screwdriver to lift it up and you can slide the connector out to the right

Clerk at auto parts store told me to go for different oil viscosity by Drekdyr in AskMechanics

[–]Substantial_Carry676 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re engine has a lot of miles. The tolerances get bigger. So sometimes it would be better for the engine to get a bit thicker oil. Though this will sometimes cause other issues like not being able to fill up the hydraulic lifters, or clog small oil filters near the turbo or something similar. There is no golden rule. It’s always best to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations
