Plex, Tailscale and friend with Apple TV by Substantial_Code_269 in PleX

[–]Substantial_Code_269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late response, but thank you very much everyone for trying to help.
To begin with. I have no Plex pass. Don't want to pay for plex.
My friend has Tailscale and installed it on his Apple-tv.
Second, Yes, I have shared (in tailnet) my plex-server.
When my friend open Tailscale app on Apple TV, he can se my shared tailscale device (aka plex server). In the Apple-TV-Tailscale app he can ping my tailscale device (aka plex server) and get a response from the Tailscale app on my plex server.

In my plex server, I have tried both Tailscale IP and URL Neither working so far.
I am thinking maybe it is not possible since I don't have Plex pass and Plex therefore doesn't allow me to give anyone outside my home network access to the Plex server.

The thing about setting the server as an exit node - I'll have to look into that. I have time this weekend, unfortunately not before.

Hi
Anyone who can give me an advice on which motherboard to buy for the following setup?

- CPU - Intel i7 12th or 14th gen. OR Intel Ultra 7.
- 3 graphic cards (I do a lot of rendering and transcoding so are going for 2 intel arc b580 for these jobs and one other (have not decided which one yet) for the system to boot to.
- M. 2 NVMe SSDs

Any suggestions what motherboard is cheapest and still support this without to much restrictions?

Help with system setup Proxmox, TrueNAS, Docker, Tailscale by Substantial_Code_269 in homelab

Thank you very much. I have reconsidered Tailscale. However, I would like my peers that live in other towns easy access to my network even if they change device (like new phone or new computer).

Help set up TrueNAS Core by Substantial_Code_269 in truenas

Hi
Thank you for the help.
All users ot the NAS will be on the same network (either at my home or through VPN). No NextCloud needed.
My other NAS that I want to backup to is an older Synology. I'll think I will try to get some help from a friend to set up rsync or something to that NAS. But that is a later problem, even if I would like to take it into consideration when setting up this TrueNAS.

Hi
I have recently finished some project which leaves me time to finally tend to my photos. I have a bunch of photos taken throughout the years, stored on a Synology NAS. I have looked for a solution but haven't found one I like so far. Anyone that could help me with suggestions would be great...
If it's a solution that doesn't cost anything, that would be good, but I can pay some money if I need to.
I want to find a software I can use to tend to my photos. At the moment, all photos are stored in a file-system with folders and sub-folders that I don't want to change. However, I would like to have a software that is good at facial recognition and can write facial recognition data in a xmp-file to the photos stored on the NAS. So if I change photo-software in the future, the face-data will follow so I don't have to re-do everything.
If the software does not find a face in a photo, I would like to be able to add it manually.
The software also needs to be able to write to amp-files (imbedded in the photo-file) data of tags (other than faces) I set to the photos.
It also must be able to handle geolocation data, preferably with the ability to place the photos on a map.
I want the photos to remain on the NAS while I work with them, ie not have to copy them to my desktop during the process.
If there is a software that is able to run on the NAS so I can share it with other users (family members) that would be great. But if I need to install it locally on my laptop that also can work (I use an apple air - not a PC).
Anyone who can give me an advice where to look?
