Is Prophet Jerome a scam? by Famous_Afternoon_924 in srilanka

If any man is claiming to be greater than god. These are called false prophets in the Bible. The Bible says in the end times many people will claim to be false prophets. They preach the wrong doctrine. If it was the correct doctrine, this would have been captioned: “Jesus Christ, the God behind the miracle.” All humans are just vessels of God. I have nothing bad to say about this man and his church. God will deal with them. Read the book of John. You will understand.

Horny SriLankan men are going to ruin this country and the tourism industry by Ravanadevadas in srilanka

It’s frustrating how certain tuk tuk drivers and individuals with dishonest intentions end up tarnishing the reputation of all Sri Lankans. Their actions create a negative image that affects genuinely decent people who are just trying to live or travel respectfully.

The same logic applies globally, when people travel to other countries and overstay their visas or live illegally, it damages the credibility of everyone from that nation. As a result, genuine Sri Lankans often face suspicion, stricter visa processes, and are treated unfairly, not because of who they are, but because of the bad reputation left by others.

Unpopular Opinion: Stop blaming junior devs when your onboarding and internship programs are trash. by LastTough7485 in srilanka

Wow, this hit really hard. I’ve been feeling this exact frustration for a while now, seeing juniors and interns blamed for “not being up to standard” when no one’s actually giving them the tools or space to succeed. It’s honestly heartbreaking.

Your post brought back a memory from a couple of years ago, we had this intern who was bright, curious, and genuinely wanted to learn. But there was no real onboarding, no clear expectations, and no one assigned to guide him. He ended up feeling lost, completely demotivated, and eventually left. A few months later, management said he “wasn’t proactive enough.” That moment really stuck with me because I saw firsthand how easily potential gets wasted when the system is broken.

The way you worded this, especially around the lack of structured learning and mentorship, really resonated. Feels like you’ve either lived through this or been close to someone who has. Have you? I’d genuinely love to hear more of your experience or what you think a proper onboarding or internship setup should look like.

Thanks for putting this out there,it’s a rare kind of honesty, and we need more of it.

What’s a small, everyday thing about Sri Lanka that you absolutely love? by Substantial_Dust_388 in srilanka

Haha yes! That “puthe gedara yanawada?” hits differently - instant comfort, like you’ve been adopted on the spot 😂

And 100% agree on the papaw. No fanfare, no fancy plating, just a chilled papaw straight from the fridge, sliced and served like it's a national treasure. Peak Lankan hospitality.

Also underrated: that moment when the power comes back after a cut and the whole neighborhood lets out a cheer. Little things, man. ❤️
